Yuanwu is an Electro Element Resonator specialized in close-range combat with Gauntlets. As a boxing coach, Yuanwu uses knockback-heavy punches and kicks. His Resonance Skill also allows him to inflict enemies with Electro damage through other means.

The Best Build for Yuanwu

A tank build is the best choice for Yuanwu. Players should prioritize their DEF stats, focusing on enhancing durability against high-damage bosses. A suitable weapon to aid Yuanwu in achieving this is the Originite: Type IV, which restores the user's HP based on their basic attacks. Alternatively, the Amity Accord is also a good option for Yuanwu as it enhances his Resonance Liberation DMG. (Free-to-play players should consider using the Gauntlet#21D for its counterattack and dodge damage buff.)

Since Yuanwu is a sub-DPS or tank in most compositions, he doesn’t require many duplicates early on in the game. However, players would benefit from his first Sequence Node, as it boosts Yuanwu’s basic and heavy ATK Speed by 20% when he’s in Lightning Infused mode.

As for Yuanwu’s ideal compositions, Verina and Calcharo are the best teammates. However, a DEF-benefiting Resonator like Taoqi could also complement Yuanwu well. Rotation-wise, buffing the team with Support, switching to Yuanwu for extra shield damage, and then deploying the main DPS have proven to be the most effective strategy.

The Best Echo Set for Yuanwu

Since Yuanwu scales with DEF, an HP-oriented Echo set could be beneficial. A 5-piece Rejuvenating Glow set with Bell-Borne Geochelone in front, supported by Stonewall Bracer, Rocksteady Guardian, Fission Junrock, and Cruisewing, seems to be ideal. However, players looking for a more aggressive build could also opt for a Void Thunder set to maximize Yuanwu’s Electro damage.

Yuanwu’s Forte and Skill Priority

After ranking up these skills on the Forte, players can focus on improving Yuanwu’s Basic Attack, Resonance Liberation, and Intro Skill in the same order.

How to Play Yuanwu

  • Break the enemy’s shield (Vibration Strength) with his enhanced basic attacks.
  • Drop his Thunder Field and switch into the main DPS.

Players are encouraged to use Yuanwu as their primary tank to break the enemy’s Vibration Strength. In terms of combat strategy, players should prioritize activating Yuanwu’s Lightning Infused to gain interruption immunity and then bombard the enemy with basic attacks to break their shield. Once the enemy is immobilized, players should deploy Yuanwu’s Thunder Field and switch to their main DPS.
