"A Free Meal" is a two-phase side quest in the Distribution Center that takes players to an abandoned mine, where they must help a group of abducted people. This guide explains how to trigger and complete the quest with minimal hassle. While most side quests in Wuthering Waves are straightforward, "A Free Meal" can confuse beginners due to its puzzles and tricky objectives. Here's how to start and complete it.

How to Start the ‘A Free Meal’ Side Quest

To initiate the first "A Free Meal" quest, visit the Distribution Center in the Tiger’s Maw region. Once there, talk to the Jovial Patroller and agree to help with the Sound Dampeners' issue. The side quest will be triggered once the dialogue cutscene is over.

How to Complete ‘A Free Meal 1’

For the first phase of the quest, players must activate three Sound Dampeners in the Distribution Center. Sound Dampeners are antenna-like structures located using the Resonator’s scanner. Each Dampener requires solving a different puzzle:

First Sound Dampener

Solve a light puzzle by connecting same-color circuits with lines:

Second Sound Dampener

Collect batteries (Induction Cells) using the Levitator and insert them into the respective holders (Cell Sockets) near the Dampener.

Third Sound Dampener

Solve a cube puzzle by striking magnetic cubes and pushing all three toward the Dampener to fix it.

Every time you solves a puzzle, a group of TDs will attack the newly fixed Sound Dampener. Defeat these enemies before proceeding to the next stage.

How to Start the Second ‘A Free Meal’ Quest

After completing the first phase of "A Free Meal," skip time to two days later using your Terminal. Once the time has passed, you will receive a call from Minghe, who asks to meet with you. To start the second half of the quest, talk to Minghe, who can be found south of the Distribution Center.

The second phase of "A Free Meal" has a bug that might require the player to fast travel to another location and then return to the quest area.

How to Complete ‘A Free Meal 2’

"A Free Meal 2" begins with a basic puzzle. In this objective, the player must give an NPC orders to move a levitating cube and unlock a door. The formula for completing this puzzle is as follows: "Attack Right, Attack Forward, Attack Forward." Once the door is unlocked, follow the path to the other side of the mine and retrieve the lost weapon.

Continuing the quest leads to discovering a group of imprisoned people who request Rover's help. To free these people, the player must solve an Encryption Floor puzzle using the Key Repeaters. Essentially, you must place all Key Repeaters on the Encryption Blocks and rotate them until all pressure plates are illuminated. (Refer to the picture above for the solution.)

After freeing the prisoners, leave the cave and fight the Fractsidus Executioner: Guardian to conclude the second A Free Meal quest and collect the rewards.
