As Wuthering Waves' long-anticipated official launch is finally here, fans of Kuro Games' franchise, as well as enthusiasts of open-world RPGs, have a new game to experience and immerse themselves in. However, since the game involves Gacha elements to collect most of the characters, some players, especially those planning to play as F2P, might feel inclined to reroll to start the game with their desired characters. Fortunately, the game launches with numerous rewards and a beginner Gacha system, making it easier for players to obtain 5-star characters. Here's how players can efficiently reroll in Wuthering Waves.

Is Reroll Worth in Wuthering Waves?

In short, rerolling in Wuthering Waves is not worth the effort. The process takes around 35-45 minutes for each reroll similar to many popular games like Honkai: Star Rail or Genshin Impact, and it can extend to a few days since players will receive additional pull chances in the upcoming days. Moreover, each reroll requires creating a new account and binding it to a new email address, further lengthening the process. Additionally, players can quickly obtain a 5-star character from the limited roster in 50 pulls (worth 40 pulls due to discounted pulls) and select the next 5-star standard character within the next 80 pulls.

Given that 5-star characters in standard permanent banners typically do not remain dominant in the meta for long, as seen in other similar games like Genshin Impact, rerolling is generally not worth it for most players in the long run. There is also no guarentee that players will be lucky with their pulls for their most desired characters in the upcoming patches, considering the low early pity rates. Nevertheless, if players are keen on obtaining Jiyan, the first limited banner character, within 10-20 pulls, rerolling might be worth considering. It is also worth noting that, it is not worth rerolling for weapons.

Which Characters To Aim For While Rerolling in Wuthering Waves?

Wuthering Waves_ Beginner's Choice Convene

There are a total of five 5-star rarity characters in the Novice and Permanent Convene banners: Calcharo, Encore, Jianxin, Lingyang, and Verina. Here is a brief overview of each character:

  • Calcharo: Calcharo is an Electro main DPS with exceptional damage potential through complex combos and a powerful Ultimate. However, his gameplay is can be considered difficult to master as players need to perfectly execute his combos, especially during his Ultimate to maintain high damage, as otherwise his damage will suffer significantly. He excels when paired with Yinlin and is a top choice for endgame content if players can handle his demanding playstyle. Priority: High
  • Encore: Encore is perfect hybrid DPS in terms of being able to dish out both ranged and melee attacks, since she transforms into a melee powerhouse during her Ultimate, dealing most of her damage during this period. Her Ultimate combo is straightforward and forgiving, making her easier to play than characters like Calcharo on that regard, though she will have hard time parrying, which might be quite a deal-breaker for some players. Encore boasts one of the highest single-target DPS windows, but as of now, she does not have a well-synergizing sub-dps partner, except Sanhua. In short, Encore is a solid DPS and is highly effective in the Tower of Adversity, but her ideal team composition is a little lacking due to the existing roster of characters. DPS wise, she is similar to Calcharo, and ultimately players should pick either one of them depending on their preference in play style, or character design, if they are intending to pick a DPS character as their priority. Priority: High
  • Jianxin: Jianxin is a character that gives the good description of jack of all trades, master of none, being a hybrid character who balances support and damage roles, offering diverse team benefits. She excels in sustain, making her quite useful in overworld content combined with her AoE attacks that are excellent for defeating weaker groups of enemies. However, her versatility is both a strength and a weakness. Jianxin requires a lot of field time, making her not the best teammate for most of the existing primary DPS characters. She is prone to interruptions, struggles with high energy costs, and lacks the damage output needed for endgame content. Generally, for players who are interested in completing the story, exploring the world, and farm in overworld, over tackling end game content as of now, she is an excellent pick. Priority: Mid
  • Lingyang: Lingyang is a melee DPS character with a unique playstyle that divides opinions. Like Calcharo and Encore, he deals most of his damage during his Ultimate, which enhances his normal combos. During his Ultimate, Lingyang is in the air, essentially flying, making him a good choice for players that enjoy such a combat style. Nevertheless, while this flying ability is unique, it also presents challenges. Players have limited control over direction and dodging, and issues with hitboxes can cause missed attacks, resulting in potential significant damage loss. Nevertheless, he is quite beginner-friendly and easy to master as far as his combos go, since they are essentially executable with button-mashing. In short, despite Lingyang's unique playstyle, his lower damage output compared to Encore or Calcharo him less appealing as a main damage dealer. Priority: Low
  • Verina: Verina emerges as the most potent Support character upon release, and essentially the only 5-star support character as of now. She provides universal buffs, healing, and also resurrects a party member once every 10 minutes. In typical team setups that feature a Main DPS, a sub-DPS/support and a sustainer, Verina is one of the only characters alongside Baizhi that can fill the last spot. However, compared to Baizhi, she is a bit easier to play since she can offer longer buffs, and less effort or field time, allowing players to spend more time on other characters. Priority: Very High

Verdict: While the early-game meta is prone to change, players aiming for an early advantage in endgame content should prioritize obtaining Verina, with Encore and Calcharo being secondary options. That being the case, if players are only looking for one of these characters to obtain, they should not need to spend as much as time with rerolling, as they can pick any of them for their Beginner Convene after the first 50 pulls are completed.

How to Reroll in Wuthering Waves?

Wuthering Waves_ Novice Convene

As mentioned earlier, players may spend considerable time creating new accounts, particularly if they aim for Jiyan through limited pulls. However, if Jiyan isn't the priority, players should be able to obtain their desired characters within a few rerolls. This is because, at the game's launch, F2P players will likely have more access to standard pulls than limited banner pulls. Here're all the quick steps (spoiler-free) for rerolling:

  1. Create a new account / email, and log in to the game with it.
  2. Embark on the main story quest, dedicating approximately 35-45 minutes solely to its completion until a certain point. Avoid any distractions such as side missions, overworld exploration, or echo obtaining, and instead, focus solely on following the main storyline's progression and reaching the town.
  3. Players will encounter various dialogues and steps throughout their journey. In short, the opportunity for pulling won't arise until after the following sequence of events: Yangyang joins the roster, followed by a challenging boss battle, reaching the town, then Chixia joins the roster, and then a dialogue with Mortefi in the academy. Finally, players will need to complete the tutorial pull to obtain Baizhi. After completing these steps, players will gain access to banners and their mail, where they can claim pre-register and other rewards necessary for pulling.
  4. Do the 20-30 pulls on the Novice Convene to see if an additional (ideally desired) 5-star is obtained.
  5. Optional: Do 11-12 pulls (or 20+ if players want to wait until 25th May) on the Jiyan Banner.
  6. If the desired character is obtained early, rerolling can be stopped at this point. If not, repeat from step 1.

Players eager to secure multiple 5-star characters within their first 30-50 pulls are advised to create and maintain multiple accounts on day one. This strategy is especially beneficial as the game is likely to offer additional pulls in the following days, which could help in acquiring characters like Jiyan early on. Alternatively, for those uninterested in Jiyan, it's recommended to skip on doing this, and only reroll as needed to acquire the desired standard banner character, and otherwise focus on accumulating Asterite and Radiant Tides for upcoming characters like Yinlin, or even for non-released limited 5-star characters for version 1.1, such as Changli or Jinhsi, who estimated to arrive in six weeks.
