Wuthering Waves players have discovered a trick that allowed them to unlock characters before their official release. The highly anticipated release of developer Kuro Games' open-world gacha game was dampened somewhat by a host of technical issues present within the game's launch version, leading to many players reporting severely clunky playthroughs. Now, another glitch has been discovered, which provided users with an easy way of trying one of Wuthering Waves' most anticipated characters.

Wuthering Waves' debut has not been entirely smooth sailing. Released recently on May 22, the game's stability left much to be desired, as players shared screenshots and clips of a variety of issues ranging from hilarious graphical bugs to tedious audio problems that have altogether diminished the intended experience. Following the game's tumultuous launch, Kuro Games released a public apology to its global player base and additionally announced it would provide compensation for Wuthering Waves' buggy release in the form of 10 Lustrous Tides, a valuable currency used for the title's gacha system.

However, players have uncovered yet another problem with Wuthering Waves pertaining to its timed banners. Users discovered an exploit, which allowed them to access the trial stage for the upcoming 5-star character Yinlin, an Electro Congenital Resonator scheduled for release this coming June. The bug itself is easy to replicate. Players need only to log in to their account and open the system time setting then disable the automatic clock and manually change the date to a period later than June 12. If done properly, the process should give them access to Yinlin's trial stage. Notably, even if the exploit is activated, Yinlin herself is not permanently unlocked for the account and will only be playable in the trial.

Several clips of the bug have since begun making rounds throughout the game's community following its proliferation on the popular video-sharing website BiliBili, leading to quick action from Kuro Games. The exploit has since been patched on the title's Chinese server, and while players from other regions report that the bug is still present in their local server, it will likely soon be patched for other territories, meaning new Wuthering Waves players who want to try one of the most anticipated characters before her official release will want to act quickly.

It's difficult to say whether the game's shaky release will severely hamper its potential. On the one hand, when the game does work, players have praised Wuthering Waves' stellar team combat and smooth-flowing action gameplay. But on the other hand, Wuthering Waves already set itself up as a direct competitor to miHoYo's massively popular Genshin Impact, and some fans might write it off solely because of its troubled launch.
