The world of Wuthering Waves offers endless possibilities through which players gain EXP and rewards. In addition to the various chests and challenges available in the open world, there are also exploration quests which give players gadgets, rewards, and access to new areas. Like most RPGs, Wuthering Waves has areas and chests that are inaccessible without completing a prerequisite quest.
An important quest that Rovers will need to complete is the Stygian Lacrimosa quest. This quest can only be unlocked at Union Level 25, and is easier to do after completing the Dim Forest exploration quest. Stygian Lacrimosa will have players following a researcher in his efforts to clear mud in the surrounding area. Additionally, Rovers will also get the chance to remove the sandstorm in the area, making exploration much easier.

How To Remove The Mud In Whining Aix Mire
During the quest Stygian Lacrimosa, players will gain access to a device known as the Ultrasonic Pulse Chip. This is a specific tool made by the researcher. Players can equip it to their Utility belt and use it whenever they want during the quest. You will need to keep the Ultrasonic Pulse Chip equipped at all times, which can be done by configuring the Utility Belt in the main menu.
The UPC releases a Water Vortex that cleanses the area of mud. This is quite useful as it can take out multiple blobs of mud in one go. The UPC can also be used on enemies, especially hordes of them, trapping them in the water vortex as your characters deal the necessary damage.
As you progress through the quest, you will come across multiple mud spots. Keep in mind that stepping into the mud slows you down, so it is advisable to steer clear of them. Also, before you release the water vortex, remember to angle it in such a way that it also removes the other mud piles in the vicinity. As you run around the area, continue removing each mud pile you see, since you may receive some small rewards for doing so.
How To Get The Mud Chests
Chest #1
After receiving the device, the researcher will request you to shoot a water vortex at the pile of mud nearby. Just aim the device and click the button. Once the water has cleared off the mud, you’ll be able to see a chest.
Chest #2
When you head to the abandoned site in the Court of Savantae, you will see some Tacet Discords covered in mud. The mud acts as a shield, and you will need to cleanse them multiple times before being able to properly defeat them. You can then claim a chest.

Located in Fallen Grave, players will be able to see another chest near some turtles. This chest will also be covered in mud, so you can use the UPC on the chest as well as the enemies to help defeat them faster.
