Increasing the Data Bank level in Wuthering Waves is one of the most important things a player can do to make their characters stronger. This is because, as Data Bank levels go up, the rarity of the echoes enemies drop starts increasing with it. Higher rarity echoes make for much better equipment than the lower rarity ones, and players will want to reach Data Bank level 15 as quickly as possible to unlock 5-Star echoes in order to start building their characters with end-game gear.

Not only that, but leveling up the Data Bank also increases player base Stamina, the Cost Limit for equipping echoes, the Base Drop Rate, and the Enhanced Drop Rate for Overlord and Calamity Class echoes.

How to Earn Data Bank EXP in Wuthering Waves

The main way of raising the Data Bank level is by hunting down unique echoes in Wuthering Waves. But in total, there are three ways of earning Data Bank EXP:

1. Obtaining a completely new Echo.
2. Obtaining a new rarity of an Echo that the players have already unlocked.
3. Completing Guidebook Milestones stages.

High-rarity echoes (4-Star/5-Star) are locked behind Data Bank Levels. At Data Bank 0, players will only be able to obtain 2-Star echoes, necessitating farming these until their Data Bank is high enough to unlock 3-Star echoes (level 5). Then, focus on 3-Stars until enough EXP is gained to unlock 4-Stars (level 8), and then continue farming those until they reach level 15 and unlock 5-Star echoes. While this may seem daunting at first, getting to Data Bank level 12 requires very little effort. Only the rest of the ranks require a bit of grinding.

Getting Data Bank EXP by Hunting Echoes

Wuthering Waves makes it extremely easy for players to track specific Tacet Discords to find any Echoes that are missing from their roster. Here is what you need to do:

1. Open the Guidebook from the Pause Screen.
2. Click on the Echo Hunting tab (the last icon on the left).
3. Find any Echo you want to hunt and select ‘Detect.’

Even if an Echo is technically undiscovered and the Guidebook shows H11-??? instead of the actual name of the enemy, players can still click on Detect to track the target if they have fought them at least once in-game.

If a player has obtained a Spearback Echo of 2-Star rarity, they will get more Data Bank EXP for obtaining another Spearback Echo of 3-Star rarity but not for obtaining another 2-Star Spearback Echo. This is a one-time reward, meaning only the first time a new echo or echo rarity is obtained will give players Data Bank EXP. Finding multiple copies of a 3-Star Rarity Echo does not offer any benefit in terms of EXP.

Getting Data Bank EXP Using Guidebook Milestones

Each Guidebook Milestones Stage gives players a certain amount of EXP to increase their Data Bank level, and the higher their Guidebook Rank goes, the higher the EXP obtained. Completing Guidebook Milestones is fairly straightforward.

1. Open the Guidebook from the Pause menu.
2. Select Milestones from the second icon on the left.
3. Complete the tasks that show ‘Go.’ The progress will be shown below the task description.
4. Click on ‘Claim.’
5. Once all task rewards are claimed in a Milestone Stage, click on Claim on the righthand menu below the reward list to advance to the next level and earn Data Bank EXP.
