Lingyang is one of the hardest characters to use correctly in Wuthering Waves, owing to the extremely small window of his Forte Circuit. Most of Lingyang’s damage comes from the Striding Lion state, which he can enter by using Heavy Attack when his Forte Circuit bar fills up. The default window of this buffed state is 5 seconds. If Lingyang uses his Liberation (ultimate) before activating the skill, this duration goes up to 10 seconds.

Unlike Calcharo or Jiyan, Lingyang only wants to stay on-field while he is in his buffed state. Unfortunately, in addition to the inherently small timing window, Lingyang can be knocked out of the Striding Lion state if an enemy hits him hard enough. He does have super armor during this state, which means regular attacks don’t faze him, but if he’s hit by a big boss attack, he’ll be knocked prone. To build a team around any character, players will need to account for their limitations while bringing out their strengths.

Lingyang the Suan'ni has a unique but complicated mechanism where he fights mid-air in Wuthering Waves.

1 Lingyang + Sanhua + Verina

Lingyang + Sanhua + Verina team composition in wuthering waves

Lingyang is the main DPS for this team, leveraging Sanhua’s ability to buff his basic attacks with her outro skill to maximize damage during his Striding Lion state. Sanhua is also a completely free character, meaning players can obtain her without having to spend Astrite just by playing through the game.

Verina is the best support in Wuthering Waves, and she is especially useful for Lingyang due to her Liberation ability, Photosynthesis mark. Similar to Mortefi’s ultimate, when Verina uses her ultimate, she marks nearby enemies, and when any character attacks an enemy with the mark, Verina attacks them from off-field. This is excellent for Lingyang, as once he enters his DPS mode, he does not want to swap out until he runs out of steam.

Lingyang Team Roles

  • Lingyang: DPS
  • Sanhua: Sub-DPS, Buffer
  • Verina: Healer, Buffer

2 Lingyang + Jianxin + Yangyang

One of the bigger issues when running Lingyang is that he heavily focuses on single-target damage, meaning in the Tower of Adversity, where taking out groups of enemies as quickly as possible is the priority, Lingyang struggles. This is where Jianxin and Yangyang come in. Both of these characters have a way of sucking in crowds of enemies to a single spot so that Lingyang can go ham.

Jianxin is the centerpiece of this team as not only does she provide crowd control, but she’s also responsible for healing the team, creating shields and buffing Lingyang, and dealing with hard-to-dodge boss attacks that Lingyang struggles with using her Resonance skill.

Lingyang Team Roles

  • Lingyang: DPS
  • Jianxin: Sub-DPS, Healer, Shielder, Buffer
  • Yangyang: Sub-DPS, Crowd Control

3 Lingyang + Rover + Baizhi

lingyang + Rover + Baizhi team composition in wuthering waves

For F2P accounts, Rover and Baizhi are both excellent companions for Lingyang if no 5-stars are available. Spectro Rover serves as an excellent sub-DPS, covering for Lingyang’s lack of AoE damage with their Resonance skill and Liberation, while Baizhi serves as the team’s healer and buffer.

The great thing about this team composition is that if players find the playstyle of Lingyang as the main DPS and Rover as the sub-DPS doesn’t suit their style, they can easily switch to Havoc Rover and use them as the main DPS instead of Lingyang, shifting the Liondancer to the sub-DPS role.

If players decide to go this route, as a sub-DPS, Lingyang’s main role is to deal massive single-target damage in quick, short bursts, leaving the rest to Rover. This team works extremely well if Baizhi equips the 5pcs Moonlit Clouds set, which should help generate energy for Lingyang’s ultimate, allowing him to spend as little time on-field as possible.

Lingyang Team Roles

  • Lingyang: DPS
  • Rover: Sub-DPS (or DPS as Havoc Rover)
  • Baizhi: Healer
