As a Gacha game, Wuthering Waves uses a pulling system that allows players to acquire new Resonators (characters) with some RNG involved. Since Gacha games often personalize this mechanic, some players might find the basics of pulling confusing and have questions about the Banners in Wuthering Waves. This guide simplifies the fundamentals and offers tips on prioritizing the most effective pulls from the current draws.

In Wuthering Waves, there are several free characters that you can obtain during your adventure, so knowing how to do so is important.

Wuthering Waves’ Pulls and Gacha Explained

In Wuthering Waves, the pulling system is called Convene. Using this feature, players can spend special tickets (called Tides) to summon new characters, with chances of drawing 4-Star or 5-Star Resonators.

The pulling mechanic features a classic 50-50 Pity System. Each time players use 10 Lustrous Tides, they are guaranteed a 4-Star character or item. After 80 summons, the Pity System will either grant the featured Resonator or weapon of that Banner, or their equivalent. If the Pity doesn’t activate, the player's next pull after 80 summons is guaranteed to be the featured character or item.

There's a chance of encountering Soft Pity around 60 to 75 draws, which could potentially reward players with high-Star items before reaching the 80 draws quota.

How to Unlock Pulling in Wuthering Waves

In Wuthering Waves, the Convene unlocks by the time the player accesses the Training Simulation. To reach this point, follow along with the main campaign missions until you unlock Jinzhou city. After that, you can summon new characters from the designated menu accessible from the Terminal.

Players can use reroll tricks to pull their favorite Resonators early on in the game.

List of Current Banners in Wuthering Waves

There are currently five Banners on the Convene menu: three permanent and two event-exclusive. Here's what players can pull from each Banner.

Permanent Banners

  • Novice Convene: The first 50 Convenes guarantee one of three 5-Star Resonators: Jianxin, Lingyang, or Encore. After 50 Convenes, the Banner transforms into the Beginner’s Choice Convene, allowing players to target one of the following 5-Star characters: Jianxin, Calcharo, Verina, Lingyang, or Encore.
  • Tidal Chorus: This Banner grants the player one 5-Star character in 80 Convenes. The options are Encore, Jianxin, and Lingyang.
  • Winter Brume: In this Banner, players can target a 5-Star weapon, with the options being Emerald of Genesis, Lustrous Razor, Static Mist, Abyss Surges, Cosmic Ripples.

Temporary (Event) Banners

  • Prevail the Lasting Night (Event): After 80 Convenes, the player might pull Jiyan or an alternative 5-Star: Danjin, Mortefi, or Chixia. (The currency for this event is Radiant Tide.)
  • Absolute Pulsation (Event): This Banner guarantees a 5-Star weapon of the player’s choice after 80 pulls. However, unlike permanent Banners, this weapon event requires Forging Tides, which are relatively scarce.

Priority Guide for Convene Attempts

Beginner Wuthering Waves players are advised to prioritize the Novice Convene (Utterance of Marvels) banner for two reasons. First, it offers a 20% discount on Lustrous Tide, granting a guaranteed item every eight pulls instead of ten. Second, it unlocks Beginner’s Choice Convene in 50 pulls, allowing the player to select the next Resonator they want to target.

Here is the Banner priority order for the best outcome:

  • Verina (Support)
  • Calcharo (DPS)
  • Encore (DPS)
  • Jianxin (DPS)

For the limited-time Convene Events, players are recommended to pull for Jiyan in the "Prevail the Lasting Night" Banner. The reason is that Jiyan’s Banner includes better substitute Resonators, with Mortefi and Danjin (two top-tier characters) being available as well. So, if the Pity System goes wrong, players are still rewarded with worthy replacements.

For the Permanent Weapon Banner, the priority choices are:

  • Static Mist: 12.8% Energy Regen + 10% ATK DMG buff for the switched-in Resonator for 14 seconds.
  • Lustrous of Razor: 12.8% Energy Regen + 7% Resonance Liberation DMG buff, stackable two times.
  • Emerald of Genesis:12.8% Energy Regen + Liberation DMG buff by 7%, stackable up to two times for 12 seconds.

How to Add a Resonator to the Wish List

Wuthering Waves doesn’t have a Wish List for targeting specific Resonators. However, one alternative is the Beginner’s Choice Convene, which is unlocked by investing 50 Convenes in the Utterance of Marvels Banner. Using this Banner, the player can wish one of the following 5-Star characters: Jianxin, Calcharo, Verina, Lingyang, or Encore.
