In an upcoming World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic content update, Blizzard confirmed that the Random Dungeon Finder will be added to the game in response to player feedback. Though the feature was not initially part of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic upon release in 2022, Blizzard has seemingly changed its mind. On social media, the Dungeon Finder's return has split World of Warcraft players over its imminent inclusion.

The most recent update for Wrath of the Lich King Classic arrived in May. The update brought with it the Trial of the Crusade raid and other features that were part of the Call of the Crusade update originally released in 2009. While the current patch was lacking in hype compared to Secrets of Ulduar, the next one slated for WoW Classic will be the long-awaited Fall of the Lich King update. In addition to the Icecrown Citadel raid, another feature will also be part of the Fall of the Lich King update.

In a World of Warcraft Community Council update video, WoW Classic lead software engineer Nora Valletta confirmed that the Random Dungeon Finder would be added in the next major content update to Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Valletta said that, though the Looking for Group feature has been used by players looking to fill gaps in group content, the Random Dungeon Finder would be a better tool for players that are looking to get help with leveling up their characters. In the retail version of World of Warcraft, the Dungeon Finder has become ubiquitous and indispensable in leveling characters through multiple expansions. The feature itself was introduced in late 2009, during the original Fall of the Lich King update.

On social media, World of Warcraft players remained mixed on the inclusion of the Random Dungeon Finder. While some argued that the feature is a double-edged sword that would take away from WoW Classic, others pointed out that the feature's addition lined up with its initial 2009 release. In addition to the Random Dungeon Finder, WoW Classic senior game producer Josh Greenfield stated that a quest-tracking tool would come in the next update. Greenfield asked players to provide feedback on the public test realm (PTR) in the near future on both the dungeon finder and quest tracker.

Though Blizzard is preparing to launch World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore realms, that has not stopped them from looking toward the future of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Only time will tell how the addition of the Random Dungeon Finder will play out.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
