WotLK Classic Herbalism Leveling & Farming Guide

Once you step into Northrend for the first time in WotLK Classic, you will want to get your Herbalism skill up as soon as possible for that sweet, sweet gold. We've shared farming routes for each region in Northrend so that you can cover every herb you can dream of in Wrath of the Lich King. It is important to note that Frost Lotus is a potential drop from any of the herbs in Northrend. If you are looking for Frost Lotus farming routes, simply use any of the routes in this guide and have an approximate 7.5% chance to get Frost Lotus.

Before you can start using herbalism in Northrend, you will need to learn the next level of Herbalism from one of 4 trainers, 2 for Horde and 2 for Alliance. You may also learn it in Dalaran, but you will want to pick it up in either Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra to start.

Horde WotLK Herbalism Trainers:

  • Marjory Kains (Howling Fjord)
  • Tansy Wildmane (Borean Tundra)
  • Dorothy Egan (Dalaran)

Alliance WotLK Herbalism Trainers

  • Fayin Whisperleaf (Howling Fjord)
  • Kirea Moondancer (Borean Tundra)
  • Dorothy Egan (Dalaran)

Herbalism Leveling Guide 350 - 400

You have two main choices when first starting out in WotLK. You can either head to Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra to start your journey. Both of these have Goldclover and Tiger Lily, but they are not the best zones to farm them. They will do as a starting point in your journey.

When you first start at 350 Herbalism, you will only be able to gather Goldclover (see best Goldclover specific routes here).

Once you hit 375 Herbalism, you will be able to also gather the Tiger Lily you see in these zones as well. (see best Tiger Lily specific routes here).

Both Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord farm routes are included below:

Herbalism Leveling Guide 400-435

Once you hit Herbalism level 400, you will be able to start gathering Adder's Tongue. You therefore want to go to a place that has it in abundance as it will be orange for you, ensuring a higher probability of a level up when gathered. Adder's Tongue is available only in Sholazar Basin (as seen in the Adder's Tongue specific farming routes article).

In Sholazar Basin, you can continue to farm both Goldclover and Tiger Lily, as well as Adder's Tongue. This is an amazing zone for herbalism, given its green and vibrant atmosphere.

Herbalism Leveling Guide 435-450

When you obtain level 425 Herbalism you will be able to gather Lichbloom, and you can gather Icethorn when you hit 435. This is why we wait until 435 to move on from Sholazar Basin. Both The Storm Peaks and Icecrown are abundant in specifically Lichbloom and Icethorn. Here we can farm these two herbs until we hit the max herbalism level of 450.

Zul'Drak Herbalism Farm

You may have noticed we've left out Zul'Drak. It can be very challenging to gather in this zone as enemies tend to be tough to ignore. You will also only find Talandra's Rose here. You can start gathering Talandra's Rose as Herbalism level 385, but it's simply not as efficient as the other routes. Nevertheless, if you find yourself in Zul'Drak, here is the suggested route for herbalism.
