Highlights

  • No Place Like Home reduces Hearthstone cooldown and grants a second charge, replacing Diplomacy in WoW: The War Within.
  • Human players can now teleport back to town quickly, making leveling easier in World of Warcraft.
  • Some fans question the usefulness of new traits, preferring quality-of-life benefits for Humans instead in WoW: The War Within.

In World of Warcraft: The War Within, Humans are getting a new racial ability called No Place Like Home that reduces the cooldown of their Hearthstone and gives it a second charge. This passive trait replaces Diplomacy, which World of Warcraft is removing due to the account-wide reputation system coming in the new expansion.

The Warbands system in World of Warcraft: The War Within is making a bunch of features account-wide, including many reputations from Dragonflight and beyond. Because of this, World of Warcraft decided to remove Diplomacy from Humans. The racial ability gives a flat 10% increase to all reputation gains, which would have forced fans to play a Human to maximize the rep grind for their accounts.

World of Warcraft Fan Discovers Strange Detail About Earthen in The War Within

While exploring The War Within alpha, one World of Warcraft fan discovers some interesting lore about why new Earthen look the way they do.

As of the most recent build of the alpha test servers for World of Warcraft: The War Within, players now know what is replacing this iconic Human racial feature. No Place Like Home is a new trait that reduces the cooldown of the character’s Hearthstone by five minutes. It also gives their Hearthstone an additional charge, allowing them to return to their home point a second time while the first use is on cooldown.

New Human Racial Ability in WoW: The War Within

  • No Place Like Home – The Hearthstone's cooldown is reduced by five minutes, and it gains a second charge.
  • Replaces Diplomacy, which is being removed because of account-wide reputations coming with the Warbands feature in WoW: The War Within.

By default, the cooldown for using a Hearthstone is 30 minutes. However, the Hasty Hearth perk from being in a guild reduces this cooldown to 15 minutes. This means Human Hearthstones can be dropped down to a 10-minute cooldown – and with access to two charges, players should almost always be able to teleport back to their home point on these characters.

Many fans approve of this new Human racial ability. Being able to use their Hearthstone to quickly get back to town virtually whenever they need to will make Humans one of the best races to level in World of Warcraft, as they will rarely ever have to walk back to their questing hubs.

Some Players Think The 'No Place Like Home' Ability Won't Be Too Useful

On the other hand, some players are less happy with this new racial ability. While they understand why Diplomacy had to go, they don’t think they use their Hearthstone quickly enough to actually benefit from the reduced cooldown and extra charge. These fans also pointed out that the Vulpera’s Make Camp racial ability, Shaman’s Astral Recall, and Mage’s Teleport all seemed too similar, and would rather Humans get quality-of-life benefits like reduced durability cost or quicker mount casts. Regardless, World of Warcraft: The War Within has not even started its beta yet, so it is possible this new Human racial trait could change further before it is officially implemented.
