Broodkeeper Diurna is the penultimate boss in Vault of the Incarnates, the Season 1 raid for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Our guide will help you defeat the last remaining obstacle in your way so you can go face to face with Raszageth. We'll start by breaking down Diurna's abilities and go over the strategy to defeat her.

Broodkeeper Diurna Strategy Guide

This is a two phase fight that's about controlling add waves and destroying the eggs in the room before you can defeat Diurna herself.

Broodkeeper Diurna Phase 1

In addition to dealing with Diurna, adds will constantly spawn. They need to be tanked, dealt with, and kept 50 yards away from Diurna. You will split your raid into two groups. One group will focus on the adds, the other on the boss.

The boss group will tank Diurna near clusters of eggs. Her Greatstaff is how you will destroy the eggs; being close enough to the staff gives you buff of extra damage done. It also gives you an extra action button that causes a beam to follow you around. The beam hurts a lot, so don't get hit by it. Instead, have the beam hurt the eggs that are being targeted by Rapid Incubation. If you don't destroy the egg, an add spawns that will need to be dealt with. Once all the eggs in a cluster are destroyed, move Diurna to the next cluster and repeat the process. Tanks need to be mindful of Mortal Stoneclaws. The DOT and 65% Mortal Strike debuff is rough, but you shouldn't need to tank swap. Just mitigate and use cooldowns.

Floating orbs indicate where adds will spawn. You will need to do everything you can to keep these adds 50 yards away from Diurna. It's important to make sure you're staying on top of these, otherwise they will overwhelm the raid. Some of the adds have important things to consider:

  • Spread out when Ionizing Charge is cast by the Stormbringer.
  • Avoid the Flame Sentry that spawns from the Flamebender.
  • Heal through the Chilling Tantrum from the Juvenille Frost Proto-Dragon
  • The Legionnaire will cast Vicious Thrust on the tank. This hurts, but you shouldn't need to tank swap. Just mitigate it.
  • The mage will cast Ice Barrage. You need to kick it.
  • Dodge the Tremors from the Earthreaver.

Other things to consider during phase one:

  • Wildfire will give you a DOT. Make sure you avoid the swirlies that appear from this.
  • Icy Shroud puts out a slow and healing absorb to the raid. It can be dispelled.
  • Anyone within 50 yards of Diurna takes 10% extra damage. If you're over 50 yards away, you move 15% faster.

Broodkeeper Diurna Phase 2

After five minutes, or all the eggs are destroyed, Phase Two Begins. If you still have eggs up, you'll need to destroy them to kill the boss. This is a race to the finish as phase two acts as a soft enrage/DPS check. Continue to kite the beams into any remaining eggs and avoid Wildfire. Frozen Shroud is like Icy Shroud; dispel those affected and quickly heal the raid. When Diurna puts her staff in the ground, pulsing damage hits the raid; heal through it. Mortal Stoneclaws is also cast twice as often now, so a tank swap may be on the menu.

Kill her before Broodkeeper's Fury, which gives her 15% extra damage every 30 seconds, kills you.

Broodkeeper Diurna Heroic Mode

Due to the nature of the fight, there are quite a bit of changes for Heroic Diurna.

  • Greatstaff's Wrath now deals a stacking 10% damage buff to the raid.
  • Wildfire cleaves nearby enemies on Heroic; targeted players need to spread out.
  • When eggs are destroyed, Diurna will deal damage to the raid. You're also hit with the Clutchwatcher's Rage debuff, which deals 200% increased damage for the next ten seconds. You need to be smart about when you destroy your eggs. We recommend destroying no more than two eggs at a time.
  • The adds go through some changes as well.
    • The Earthreaver casts Burrowing Strike, charging the tank and reducing their armor by 30% for 10 seconds. Kill this add immediately.
    • Flamebenders cast Cauterizing Flashflames, dealing damage to its allies while also healing the Flamebender for nine seconds.
    • The Juvenile Frost Proto-Dragons apply a stacking bleed to anyone it melees. Honestly, it's not something that warrants special attention.
    • The Stormbringer will cast Static Jolt, stunning the target for two seconds and dealing damage. Kick this cast.
  • As always, numerical values for boss health and damage from abilities increases.

Diurna Loot Table

The ilvl for Diurna's Loot Table varies by the raid's difficulty. Normal loot has an ilvl of 389, Heroic 402, and Mythic 415. One rare item has a higher ilvl.
