Hello and welcome to the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Renown Guide. We'll summarize the four factions you can gain Renown within the Dragon Isles and briefly discuss two more factions in Dragonflight that offer reputation to gain.

Unlike Shadowlands, you aren't locked into siding with one faction. You can work alongside all four simultaneously, opening yourself up to rewards of all types. From cosmetics and companions to epic gear, your hard work will be paid off in various ways. Leveling up your renown also unlocks more quests and story content as well. Thankfully, there's nothing tied to player power, so you can go about these at your own pace.

What is Renown?

Let's start by defining what Renown is in World of Warcraft. Introduced in Shadowlands, Renown is your reputation with a specific faction. Think of it as an advanced version of reputation. Instead of the basic handful of levels from Neutral to Exalted, there are currently 25 levels of Renown at the launch of Dragonflight. As a result, many more rewards are available to players for gaining Renown.

One key change from Shadowlands is that you're not locked into one single faction. There are a total of four different factions waiting for you in Dragonflight, and you can level them up simultaneously. This is a massive improvement to how the system used to work in World of Warcraft and creates a far better player experience.

Next, we're going to give a brief summary of the four factions you can gain Renown with. Additional factions are expected to be added in future updates.

Dragonscale Expedition

This is the first faction you'll encounter in Dragonflight and are mainly located in The Waking Shores.

The Dragonscale Expedition is all about adventure and discovery. This group of people recently formed to uncover the mysteries of the Dragon Isles. Their quests feature photographing wildlife, rock climbing, treasure hunting, and exploration throughout the Dragon Isles.

Maruuk Centaur

Based in the Ohn'ahran Plains, the Maruuk Centaur is the second faction you'll come across as you're playing World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. They are one of several centaur clans you'll encounter during your playthrough.

Leveling up your renown helps unlock Grand Hunts, which take place throughout the Dragon Isles. These hunts involve tracking enemies, dealing with hordes of creatures, and tackling down rare beasts. Completing these hunts gives you the potential for Dragon Isle Supplies, rare gear, and important crafting materials.

Iskaara Tuskarr

Clearly the most adorable faction, the Iskaara Tuskarr set up shop in the Azure Span. They can also be found in additional areas, particularly the fishing nook in The Waking Shores.

As you may have deduced, an important part of this faction is fishing. They also offer in-demand profession recipes if you're able to level your renown high enough to unlock them. You'll also be able to participate with them as they make a bowl of soup for everyone to enjoy.

I promise that soup making is not just fun, but rewarding.

Valdrakken Accord

Last but certainly not least, we have the Valdrakken Accord.

This faction represents the combined forces of all five Dragonflights in the Dragon Isles and serves as the faction to help move the main story forward with enough Renown. You'll also gain access to the Siege on Dragonbane event and additional Dragonriding races.

Discussing the Cobalt Assembly and Obsidian Citadel

While these factions aren't tied to a Renown system, they're still present in the game and come with a list of tasks, reputation levels, and rewards.

Cobalt Assembly

Located in the Northern Azure Span, the Cobalt Assembly used to be a bastion for imagination and creation of the Blue Dragonflight. It has been invaded and run over by the Sundered Flame, and it's up to us to drive them out. You can start grinding out reputation with the Cobalt Assembly by picking up the Welcome to the Assembly quest, completing the chain, and then attacking the Sundered Flame within the area.

There's nothing special you have to do; just kill the mobs, loot Uncommon Moderate Arcana and Rare Major Arcana, and you'll gain rep. You'll also gain anima style powers to use in the Cobalt Assembly to aid with your grind.

Rewards include profession recipes, cosmetic items, and ilvl 389 rings.

Wrathion and Sabellian

As you quest your way through Dragon Isles, one of the newest World of Warcraft plot points is brought up: who is going to lead the Black Dragonflight? You'll do quests on behalf of the two leading candidates, Wrathion and Sabellian, before pledging your allegiance on a weekly basis.

Located in the northwestern corner of The Waking Shore, the Obsidian Citadel area offers a variety of quests to perform on a weekly, bi-weekly, and regular basis. Your rewards are dependent on who you pledge your allegiance to, as Wrathion and Sabellian have quartermaster with some different options in terms of rewards. Some rewards include cosmetic options for transmog and your Dragonriding mount and ilvl 398 gear.
