The Mistweaver Monk is currently the best of the best in almost any World of Warcraft: Dragonflight DPS tier list you look at. If you actually want to be the best of the best, you are going to need to know what gear you should be aiming for when diving into raids and Mythic+ dungeons. This guide will take you through the best items for each slot that you can obtain in Mythic+ and Raid environments, as well as your weekly vault.

Mistweaver Monk Best in Slot Stat Priority
The Best In Slot suggestions in this guide are based on whether the item has the two most important secondary stats for the intended build. Sometimes there isn't a piece of gear that has both of the top two stats, in this case, choosing the first and third stat or second and third stat is also acceptable. When in doubt however, simulate your gear to determine the best upgrade.
In the case of the Mistweaver Monk, there are two methods of prioritizing your stats:
Stat Priority
Priority | Raid | Mythic+ |
---|---|---|
1 | Intellect | Intellect |
2 | Haste | Haste |
3 | Critical Strike / Mastery | Mastery |
4 | Versatility | Versatility |
5 | Critical Strike |
Intellect remains the top priority over all other secondary stats; generally speaking, an item level boost of about 10 will provide much more Intellect which will outweigh having poorly itemized secondary stats.
Haste remains the best throughput secondary stat as it reduces the cast time of heals, increases the frequency of heal over time ticks, faster global cooldown, and reduces the cooldowns of damage abilities. Mastery (Mastery: Gust of Mists) is next important, and helps increase total amount of healing, paired with Invoke Chi-Ji, the Red Crane will offer an incredible amount of burst healing. Critical Strike increases both damage and healing and if Uplifted Spirits is talented can help gain more uses of Revival.
The main difference here is that Versatility is more important than Crit for Mythic+ Dungeons for the flat damage reduction that it provides. While it can be helpful to have some, having more haste and mastery is still much more important for both builds.
Important Notes For BiS Lists
It is important to note that any jump in ilvl by more than 10 points almost always results in the higher ilvl item being better. If you have an upgrade of 5 ilvl or less, compare the stats based on the stat priorities to decide the better item.
Keep in mind that secondary stats eventually have diminishing returns. The calculations for diminishing returns are as follows:
- 0 to 30% in a stat - no penalty.
- 30% to 39% in a stat - 10% penalty.
- 39% to 47% in a stat - 20% penalty.
- 47% to 54% in a stat - 30% penalty.
- 54% to 66% in a stat - 40% penalty.
- 66% to 126% in a stat - 50% penalty.
In the case where you have reached 30% in a secondary stat, an item that has a secondary stat that is lower on priority may be a better upgrade. This is why it is always important to sim your gear. For simplicity, we offer the best per slot assuming you have not capped out these stats.
The amount that is optimal always depends on the situation. You can also use a simulator, such as RaidBots, to see what you specifically should focus on. We have a section at the end of this guide to learn how to sim your gear.
Mistweaver Monk BiS Gear
The Best In Slot suggestions in this guide are based on whether the item has the 2 most important secondary stats. Basically what this means is that for a Raid build, all the options below are viable, with whatever item has the most haste is best, because for Mythic+ the second-best secondary stat will be Mastery, which is roughly equal to Crit for a Raid build.
The items appearing in this list may come from Mythic+, Raids, or The Vault. Their item level will depend on the instance's level of difficulty (Normal, Heroic, Mythic, Mythic+ 1-20). This list does not include Renown or Crafting items as it is meant as a guide on what dungeons or raids to attend to get your best gear from these sources.
For easier comparison, item tooltips will show the Mythic 9 or the Normal Raid difficulty item level version.
Best Head
There are some good options for both builds, but there aren't many options for Haste/Crit for Raids, but lots of Haste/Mastery options!
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Vault of the Incarnates | Mythic+ | |
Vault of the Incarnates | Raid | |
The Nokhud Offensive | Both | |
Trial of Valor | Both |
Best Neck
Very high amount of haste on the top pick, another option in here is the Chain of Scorched Bones, while it has Versatility as a second stat though, the haste is still quite high.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Vault of the Incarnates | Raid | |
The Nokhud Offensive | Mythic+ | |
Court of Stars | Mythic+ | |
Temple of the Jade Serpent | Raid | |
Halls of Valor | Raid |
Best Shoulders
The best option for both has Versatility on it, which would be better for Mythic+, but since Haste is such a powerful stat that it's a solid pick for both Mythic+ and Raids. Thankfully, the tier piece has Haste on it as well.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Halls of Valor | Both | |
Temple of the Jade Serpent | Raid | |
Vault of the Incarnates | Raid |
Best Back
Two great options with high haste for both Raids and Mythic+ here either of which will be a welcome addition.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Halls of Valor | Raid | |
Ruby Life Pools | Mythic+ | |
Court of Stars | Raid | |
Temple of the Jade Serpent | Raid |
Best Chest
Here we have some well-itemized choices for both Mythic+ and Raids. Interestingly, they all drop from the other type of content! The Tier chest, not listed here, has a huge amount of Versatility on it if you are looking for more survivability in Raids.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Halls of Valor | Mythic+ | |
Vault of the Incarnates | Mythic+ | |
The Nokhud Offensive | Raid |
Best Wrist
Top pick is great for both Raid and Mythic+, but not a lot of good haste options in the slot.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Algeth'ar Academy | Mythic+ | |
The Azure Vault | Mythic+ | |
Halls of Valor | Raid |
Best Hands
The Tier gloves don't have haste on them, only Mastery/Crit, which is still not too bad for Raids.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Vault of the Incarnates | Both | |
Court of Stars | Raid | |
Algeth'ar Academy | Mythic+ |
Best Waist
Raids have a good option here with a high Haste and Crit second stat. No waist for mythic+ has Haste as the higher valued stat though.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Shadowmoon Burial Grounds | Raid | |
Court of Stars | Mythic+ | |
The Azure Vault | Raid |
Best Legs
Tier gear has Versatility and Mastery not suited well for Mistweaver, but these ones are great alternatives. No Haste/Mastery option out there, bummer.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Court of Stars | Raid | |
The Nokhud Offensive | Raid | |
Vault of the Incarnates | Mythic+ |
Best Feet
Ice-Climber's Cleats is the only boot option with Haste and it'll be better for Raids. For that reason, we'll add the high mastery/crit option as an alternative.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Vault of the Incarnates | Both | |
Temple of the Jade Serpent | Mythic+ |
Best Rings
Note that none of these rings have Intellect on them, which needs to be taken into consideration. There are Proc rings from the Cobalt Assembly that can be purchased but requires a renown grind. There may also be other rings available from other dungeons in rotation but it's unknown at this point.
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
The Azure Vault | Raid | |
Temple of the Jade Serpent | Raid | |
The Nokhud Offensive | Mythic+ |
Best Trinkets
Trinkets are a tricky one that will heavily depend on the content you're facing, even changing between encounters. The top pick is the only one that provides a nice stacking haste buff
Item | Source | Build |
---|---|---|
Court of Stars | Both | |
Vault of the Incarnates | Both | |
Vault of the Incarnates | Both | |
Vault of the Incarnates | Both | |
Halls of Valor | Both | |
The Nokhud Offensive | Both |
Best Weapons
If we're trying to maximize haste, that will be best achieved with the MH/OH combo providing much more haste than any staff could, the Scripture of Primal Devotion is that good. Unless you're able to get a significant iLvl upgrade aim to pair it with any int/haste main-hand.
Item | Source | Build | |
---|---|---|---|
Main Hand | Vault of the Incarnates | Both | |
Algeth'ar Academy | Both | ||
Off-Hand | Vault of the Incarnates | Both | |
Shadowmoon Burial Grounds | Both | ||
Staff | Temple of the Jade Serpent | Raid | |
Shadowmoon Burial Grounds | Raid | ||
Algeth'ar Academy | Mythic+ |
How To Simulate To Determine Your Best Gear
Raidbots is a tool that World of Warcraft players can use to figure out if the gear they just looted is an upgrade. As mentioned earlier, there are so many nuances and diminishing returns as certain points in the game, that determining an exact set of bis gear is impossible. With the ilvl scaling of Mythic+ loot on higher keys and utility different gear has for different fights, there just isn't a pure "this is the absolute best for the entire Season" list. It's even something that certain classes have come across in Classic Wrath!
Don't worry, because we're still here to help. We highly recommend using raidbots to determine if an item you just acquired is an upgrade. Here's a quick guide to help you run simulations to see if your new item is an upgrade:
- Make sure you have the Simulationcraft add-on installed.
- With your new loot in your inventory, open your chatbox and type /simc.
- A window will open up. Copy the entire text and paste it on the Raidbots Top Gear page. I included my Simulation craft window for my personal character below
- This step is important. On the Top Gear page, scroll down and make sure you're selecting the gear you want simmed. If you do not select the gear you're wearing, as well as the gear in your inventory you just acquired, you won't know if you picked up an upgrade.
- Raidbots will then let you know which items allow you to maximize your DPS!
