Despite being one of the most interesting professions in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Enchanting can sometimes feel off-putting, especially to new players. At first glance, Enchanting seems like a wasteful profession that requires you to destroy items you could otherwise be selling in exchange for small stat buffs that won't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. But although all of that is technically true, it's only true up to a certain point.

While other professions provide significant benefits to characters as they’re leveling, the true value of Enchanting only comes into play after you've reached max level and start delving into end game content. Once you get to the point where even the smallest stat increase can make a big difference, Enchanting suddenly becomes extremely valuable, not to mention extremely profitable. Of course, before players can enjoy the myriads of benefits provided by this profession in Dragonflight, they'll first need to level it up all the way to the max.

New Features With Dragonflight Enchanting

WoW Dragonflight enchanting guide - new features

Blizzard put quite a bit of effort into making professions more interesting and engaging this time around. Dragonflight brought to the table changes that made Enchanting more complicated in some ways but simpler in others. Among other things, players can expect a new UI, Enchanting specializations, profession accessories, and so much more in Dragonflight.

Profession Accessories

Dragonflight gives players the opportunity to dress for the occasion by equipping special crafting garments and accessories. In addition to making professions more immersive, these items also provide helpful bonuses and/or increase the potency of crafted items. Similar to other professions, Enchanters can equip up to three accessories at any one time. The items change the appearance of your character, but they have separate slots, so no need to worry about having to give up regular pieces of gear when equipping them.

Resourcefulness

Resourcefulness is one of the new crafting-specific stats added in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. The stat increases a player’s chances of using up fewer reagents when crafting enchants. However, this only applies to tradable reagents and won’t work with soulbound items like Artisan’s Mettle or Primal Chaos.

Inspiration

Inspiration is another new stat and this one increases a player’s chances of gaining bonus crafting skill whenever they’re enchanting an item. Just like Resourcefulness, Inspiration can be increased by equipping better Crafting Garments.

Item Quality

Enchants in Dragonflight have three levels of quality while crafted items such as rods and wands can have up to five. The quality of a crafted item or enchantment is dictated by the player’s skill level and ties in with recipe difficulty, another new addition that shows players how much skill they need to craft a particular recipe at the highest level of quality.

Recrafting

Recrafting is pretty self-explanatory. This new feature is very useful for crafting professions like Tailoring, Leatherworking, or Blacksmithing, however, Enchanters won’t be able to get much use out of it. Although players can use recrafting on rods and wands, the feature doesn’t work on enchants.

Dragon Isles Enchanting Knowledge

Dragon Isles Enchanting Knowledge points work just like talent points but instead of using them to gain new skills and spells, they’re used to advance Specializations. Players can only acquire a certain number of Enchanting Knowledge points per week and these points are non-refundable, so it would be wise to think carefully before spending them.

First Craft

First Craft is a new feature that rewards players with one point of Dragon Isles Enchanting Knowledge whenever they craft a recipe for the first time. This applies not just to enchants but also to rods, wands, illusory goods, and everything else you can make as an Enchanter.

Crafting Tables

Crafting tables are used for creating rare and powerful items in Dragonflight. Every profession has its own type of crafting table – in the case of Enchanting, it’s called the Enchanter’s Lantern. Unlike other professions, Enchanting doesn’t require players to spend a lot of time at crafting tables. Enchanter’s Lecterns are primarily only needed for things like rods and wands.

How To Learn Enchanting In Dragonflight

where to learn enchanting in dragonflight

Players can pick up Dragon Isles Enchanting shortly after reaching Dragonflight’s introductory area in The Waking Shores. There’s only a Fishing trainer in the introductory area itself but you’ll be able to find trainers for all the other professions just a little bit west of it in the Wingrest Embassy.

Veeno, the Enchanting trainer, can be found just up the stairs inside a tent with purple lights that just so happens to also contain an Enchanter’s Lectern. Next to Veeno, players can find a Tailoring trainer named Zayn Starmaker. While it’s not mandatory to pair Enchanting with a crafting profession like Tailoring, it does help a ton with the acquisition of raw materials. That said, picking up Tailoring as a second profession only makes sense for cloth wearers.

Enchanting Specializations

Dragonflight enchanting specializations

Specializations are typically associated with other crafting professions like Tailoring or Engineering, but in Dragonflight they’re also available for Enchanting. Specializations work a bit differently than in the past in that they are not mutually exclusive. In the case of Enchanting, for example, you can grab all three Specializations, although not at the same time. Players can pick up their first Specializations once they reach Enchanting level 25 and won’t be able to choose another one until they hit level 50.

Dragonflight Enchanting Leveling Guide

Dragonflight Enchanting guide level 1 to 65

Leveling up professions works a bit differently in Dragonflight. While you can get your Enchanting up to around level 65 quite easily, it takes a lot of work to get from there to max level. This is primarily thanks to the new Crafting Orders feature, but it also has a lot to do with the fact that in Dragonflight most high-level recipes are locked behind Renown.

There are a couple of ways of reaching Enchanting level 65 in a very short amount of time, most of which will require players to buy some of the mats from the auction house. Almost all the materials needed can also be farmed, but doing so will take significantly longer. At the very least, players should buy 3x Draconium Ore, 2x Writhebark, and a bunch of Rousing and Awakened elements (amounts vary) from the auction house beforehand to save up some time.

The very first item you should consider making after learning Enchanting is a Runed Serevite Rod. This is one of the aforementioned crafting accessories and it’s pretty cheap to make. However, it does require a basic Serevite Rod and, unfortunately, they’re not available to buy in the Wingrest Embassy. Players can either buy one from the auction house or the Ruby Life Pools in The Waking Shores.

Get two extra Serevite Rods because you’ll need them later on for an Enchanting quest in The Waking Shores.

Enchanting Levels 2 - 10

Recipe

Materials Required

  • Disenchant Uncommon (Green) Rarity Items
  • None

Disenchanting items gives skill points up to level 25, however, the chances of getting a point start to decrease past level 10. Focusing too much on disenchanting means missing out on First Craft bonuses early on, so it’s a good idea to use it sparingly at low levels.

Enchanting Levels 10 - 15

Since every Writ costs the same and only awards one skip point, players will get the same results regardless of how many of each Writ they make. It’s worth crafting at least one of each for the First Craft bonuses, although the bonuses can also be obtained at a later time. That applies to most of the following milestones as well.

Enchanting Levels 15 - 25

Alternatively, it’s possible to get to level 25 by crafting 10x any Writ, but it would be a shame to miss out on the Runed Draconium Rod since it gives +6 Enchanting skill.

Enchanting Levels 40 - 50

This is mostly a matter of preference, but Rousing Fire tends to be cheaper compared to the other ones, so it’s best to stick to crafting Illusory Adornment: Fire, at least for the most part.

Enchanting Levels 50 - 65

Materials Required

15 or more of any

Getting to level 65 from here is going to be very expensive. The only recipes available from this point on are the five weapon Writs, and crafting any of them will cost a small fortune. These recipes only guarantee a skill point up to level 60, so you may need to do a lot more than 5 additional Writs to get all the way to 65, depending on your luck. Awakened Fire is generally the cheapest of the bunch, so it’s a good idea to focus on Burning Writs in order to save some gold.

Dragonflight Enchanting Levels 65 - 100 Guide

WoW Dragonflight enchanting crafting orders

This is where things get a bit complicated. In Dragonflight it’s not possible to increase Enchanting past 65 using regular just recipes from trainers. Most high-level recipes can only be unlocked via Renown or Specializations. These take a long time to unlock, but it’s possible to craft at least some of them without using your own mats thanks to the Crafting Orders system.

The best way to reach Enchanting level 100 is by using a combination of recipes from Renown and Specializations, as opposed to trying to focus on just one or the other. Doing so opens up more options and allows Enchanters to fulfill a wider variety of Crafting Orders. Some of the best such recipes include the following:

Some of the recipes below can be crafted even before reaching Enchanting level 65, but it’s generally more efficient to save them up for later and use them after it’s no longer possible to level up the profession using trainer recipes.

Enchanting Levels 65 - 75

The recipe for Draconic Inspiration unlocks after learning the Enchantment -> Material Manipulation -> Artistry sub-specialization.

Watcher’s Loam
