A jack-of-all-trades class, Druids in World of Warcraft Classic can be difficult to learn, but having all Roles available (and the best time traveling in the open world) makes the steep curve bearable. In the Season of Discovery, Druids SoD Runes not only improve the class' many playstyles, but also grants it a coveted skill the Alliance has never had before: Windfury, through the Wild Strikes Rune.
RelatedOf the best Runes in WoW SoD for each class, some are more iconic – or simply more powerful – than other classes' most powerful Runes.
In Phase One, there were a total 12 SoD Druid Runes, available for the Chest, Legs, and Gloves slots. In Phase Two, six more Druid Runes were added for the Boots and Belt slots, making for a total of eighteen across all five. This guide details both the effects and locations of all Druid Phase One and Phase Two SoD Runes added in Phase One and Phase Two.
Updated April 4, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: As players prepare to enter the third phase, and pick up new Runes, Phase 1 SoD Druid Runes and Phase 2 SoD Druid Runes aren't going anywhere. Though we don't yet know if there will be an easier way to get the first two phases' Runes in P3, the original methods to get Druid Runes from SoD hase One and Two should still work. What hasn't remained the same. throughout the numerous WoW SoD patches. are the specific effects of the P1 and P2 SoD Druid Runes. This guide has been updated to specifically list all Runes available in the first two SoD Phases for Druids, and will no longer be updated to include later phases' runes. Additionally, the effects of these Runes have been updated to match their current in-game effects accurately, as of the publish date.
To preserve the sense of mystery intended for the Season of Discovery, each P1/P2 SoD Druid Rune location is hidden by default. Open the "Click to Reveal" box to show details on how to get all Phase One and Phase Two Druid Runes in SoD.

To get the Rune of Nourishing, head to (45, 50) in Dustwallow Marsh and look for a Rotting Ancient. Killl it to get the Rotten Seed, and interact with this item to start a unique quest. Head to Moonglade, turn in the quest, then be ready to begin a one-hour-long timed quest.
After accepting the second half of the quest (The Lost Saplings), pick up the Crystal Waters of Lake Elune'ara, and the timer will begin. You must find four Saplings in four Eastern Kingdoms zones and water them with this item before the time runs out.
You cannot Teleport or Die while you look for the Saplings – Flight Paths, Boats, and Zeppelins are OK.
The Ancient Saplings can be found in the
Alterac Mountains
(58, 44),
Arathi Highlands
(48, 72),
Stranglethorn Vale
(33, 65), and
Swamp of Sorrows

Turn in Highway Robbery, pick up the next quest On The Lam, then head to Booty Bay.

All Druid Boot Runes (PHASE TWO)
King of the Jungle, Survival Instincts, & Dreamstate
The King of the Jungle Rune unlocks via the Phase Two Dark Rider questline. To begin, head to Ariden's Camp in Deadwind Pass at around (52, 34.5) in the zone. Talk to the Dalaran Agent at the camp to get Ariden's Sigil. He will ask you to recover seven Dalaran Relics from Dark Riders throughout Azeroth. Each of the Dark Riders is about as difficult as a Dungeon boss at 40, but because all classes have one Rune tied to the SoD Dark Rider, it's not too hard to get a five to ten-man group together.
The Dark Riders can be found in Duskwood, Deadwind Pass, Swamp of Sorrows, Badlands, The Barrens, Desolace, and the Arathi Highlands. After killing each one, head back to the Dalaran Agent and give him the recovered Dalaran Relics. After completing each quest (which reward about 1.5g at Level 40), the Agent will give you a bag containing the Rune.
King of the Jungle Effect | - Tiger's Fury now increases all physical damage you deal by 15% and has a 30-second cooldown that's no longer tied to the GCD.
- Instantly grants 60 Energy.
|
RelatedPriests in WoW Classic are a go-to healer, and in Season of Discovery, the class gets better at its primary role and Shadow DPS, too.
To get the Rune of Instinct (and thus the Survival Instincts Rune), both factions must first head to the Swamp of Sorrows. On the road that forks south from the western entrance from Deadwind Pass, Druids will find a new NPC named Amaryllis Webb. Buy her Entomology Starter Kit for 50 silver, which contains a Guide and a Net, then head to three zones to capture three different creatures.
In the
Arathi Highlands
, go to Northfold Manor at (31, 28) and look for the Hay Weevil in any of the Stables in the nearby area. Use the net on the Weevil to catch it. It should look like a small purple spider.
In
Desolace
, go to the Kodo Graveyard around (52, 58) and look around all of the bone piles for a Flesh Picker. It should look like a small black and red scorpion, which stands out against the sand and bones.
In
Stranglethorn Vale
, head to Lake Nazferiti and look for a stump at (45, 19). Use the Net on the Arbor Tarantula on the stump. It should look like a small orange spider.
Survival Instincts Effect | - Grants you 30% of your maximum health for 20 sec. After the effect expires, the health is lost.
- Regenerate 5 Rage every time you dodge while in Bear or Dire Bear Form, 10 energy while in Cat Form, or 1% of your maximum mana while in any other form.
- Useable in any form
|
Head to
Desolace
to get the Rune of the Dreamer (and the Dreamstate Rune). Go to the eastern mountains of the zone, about halfway down the road to the right of the Kodo Graveyard, and kill Kolkar Centaurs until one drops a Dessicated Seed Pod. Bring this Seed Pod to a pond in the southeast of the zone, about a minute or two's walk south from the Kolkar Centaur area. Swim in the water there with the Seed Pod in your inventory until it turns into a Satyrweed Bulb. Then, go all the way northeast to Sargeron and plant the Satyrweed Bulb in the Sandy Loam at about (75, 21). You will get the Rune after planting the bulb.
Dreamstate Effect | - Your damaging spell Critical Strikes grant you 50% mana regeneration while casting for 8 sec
- Also increases Nature damage dealt to the target by 20% for 12 sec.
