In World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery, some of the biggest changes to the vanilla formula come via the new Rune Engraving system. Warriors have never particularly struggled in WoW (except early levels, and in WoW Hardcore), and the new Warrior Runes players can discover add nothing but power to an already formidable class.
RelatedOf the best Runes in WoW SoD for each class, some are more iconic – or simply more powerful – than other classes' most powerful Runes.
In Phase One, there were a total 12 SoD Warrior Runes, available for the Chest, Legs, and Gloves slots. In Phase Two, six more Warrior Runes were added for the Boots and Belt slots, making for a total of eighteen across all five. This guide details both the effects and locations of all Warrior SoD Runes added in Phase One and Phase Two.
Updated April 4, 2024 by Erik Petrovich: As players prepare to enter the third phase, and pick up new Runes, Phase 1 SoD Warrior Runes and Phase 2 SoD Warrior Runes aren't going anywhere. Though we don't yet know if there will be an easier way to get the first two phases' Runes in P3, the original methods to get Warrior Runes from SoD hase One and Two should still work. What hasn't remained the same. throughout the numerous WoW SoD patches. are the specific effects of the P1 and P2 SoD Warrior Runes. This guide has been updated to specifically list all Runes available in the first two SoD Phases for Warriors, and will no longer be updated to include later phases' runes. Additionally, the effects of these Runes have been updated to match their current in-game effects accurately, as of the publish date.
To preserve the sense of mystery intended for the Season of Discovery, each P1/P2 SoD Warrior Rune location is hidden by default. Open the "Click to Reveal" box to show details on how to get all Phase One and Phase Two Warrior Runes in SoD.

RelatedPaladins might become the most popular class in the Season of Discovery thanks to a multitude of useful Tank, Healing, and DPS runes alike.
The Rune of Precision (and the Precise Timing Rune) unlocks via the Phase Two Dark Rider questline. To begin, head to Ariden's Camp in Deadwind Pass at around (52, 34.5) in the zone. Talk to the Dalaran Agent at the camp to get Ariden's Sigil. He will ask you to recover seven Dalaran Relics from Dark Riders throughout Azeroth. Each of the Dark Riders is about as difficult as a Dungeon boss at 40, but because all classes have one Rune tied to the SoD Dark Rider, it's not too hard to get a five to ten-man group together.
The Dark Riders can be found in Duskwood, Deadwind Pass, Swamp of Sorrows, Badlands, The Barrens, Desolace, and the Arathi Highlands. After killing each one, head back to the Dalaran Agent and give him the recovered Dalaran Relics. After completing each quest (which reward about 1.5g at Level 40), the Agent will give you a bag containing the Rune.
Precise Timing Effect | - Slam becomes an instant-cast ability, but gains a 6 second cooldown
|
To get the Rune of Blood Surge, head to Stromgarde in the Arathi Highlands or the Alterac Mountains and look for Boulderfist or Crushridge Ogres. You need to kill Maulers and Mages to get an Illegible Recipe, which starts a quest titled Anyone Can Cook. After getting the item, look for an NPC named Skonk at the base of the mountains just to the west of Witherbark Village in Arathi. Talk to Skonk to get the next quest, A Quick Grocery Run, and collect the recipe ingredients.
To get
Hybrid Haunch
, kill Wild Gryphons north of Durnholde Keep in Hillsbrad
To get
Smuggler's Spice Blend
,
loot a Sealed Barrel in the Arathi Highlands on the shoreline south of Stromgarde Keep
To get
Balmy Brew
, head to Angor Fortress in the Badlands and look for a Tapped Shadowforge Keg in the basement
Finally, get
Viscous Venom
by killing Deathstrike Tarantulas, found southeast from Stonard in the Swamp of Sorrows.
When you get all four ingredients, return to Skonk, who will turn hostile. Defeat Skonk to get the Rune of Blood Surge.
Blood Surge Effect | - Heroic Strike, Bloodthirst, and Whirlwind gain a 30% chance to make your next Slam within 15 seconds instant-cast and cost no Rage
|
All Warrior Boot Runes (PHASE TWO)
Enraged Regeneration, Rallying Cry, & Intervene
The Rune of Healing Rage, which unlocks Enraged Regeneration, can be unlocked if you
head to Desolace and look for an extinguished Campfire just northwest of the Kodo Graveyard (slightly north of the "D" in "Kodo" on the map). Pick up the quest Highway Robbery, then go directly northwest to find Kormek's Hut on the ridge overlooking the graveyard. Turn in Highway Robbery, pick up the next quest On The Lam, then head to Booty Bay.
In the Inn, talk to Tokal to continue the questline and pick up Cherry For Your Thoughts. Purchase some Cherry Grog from the barkeep and give it to her to continue onto the next part, No Honor Among Thieves.
Go to the border of the Wetlands and the Arathi Highlands and look for a boat underneath the Thandol Span bridge. Jump down into the water and interact with this boat to teleport to the far eastern shore of the Highlands. Talk to Illari Duskfeather, choose either Dialogue option, and kill her to get Illari's Key. Open the nearby Illari's Loot Cache to get the Rune.
Enraged Regeneration Effect | - Heals you for 30% of your maximum HP over 10 seconds, and can be cast while Stunned
- Can only be used while Enrage, Berserker Rage, or Bloodrage is active, on a 3-minute cooldown
|
RelatedA primarily ranged DPS class, Hunters get some of the most powerful runes in the Season of Discovery – melee Survival could be viable, now.
The Rallying Cry Rune, awarded via the Rune of the Commander, is unlocked by defeating a
Wandering Swordsman
who roams the Badlands. Just like earlier Warrior Rune quests involving the Wandering Swordsman, all you have to do is kill him and loot him.
Rallying Cry Effect | - Grants all party and raid members within 40 yards a 15% boost to their maximum HP
- Lasts 10 seconds
|
To unlock the Rune of Intervention, head to Thousand Needles, and go all the way to the southwest corner of the Shimmering Flats (further west than the entrance to Tanaris). You should find three Combat Dummies in this area. One after the other from the left to right, use the Execute ability on the first Combat Dummy (with the 2H-wielding Warrior statue), the Taunt ability on the second Combat Dummy (with the dual-wielding Dwarf), and the Shield Bash ability on the last Combat Dummy (with the Shield). You will learn Intervene Rune after correctly performing these actions in this order.

- 8 to 25 yard range
- Requires Defensive Stance to be active
