After Joel was killed by Abby in Last of Us Part 2, Tommy was just as, if not more, eager for revenge. Tommy went without Ellie, but Ellie and Dina followed anyway. Tommy tried to stop this, but he is also the one who encouraged Ellie to leave Dina and make one last attempt at killing Abby. Any chance of Ellie quitting this self-destructive crusade was gone because of Tommy, and Dina would ultimately leave Ellie over this. Joel would never have wanted Ellie to flush her life away in a mad bid for revenge over his death, and this is what makes Tommy a bad brother to Joel.

5 Dark Soul's Dark Sun Gwyndolin Leaves A Lot To Be Desired As A Brother

Dark Sun Gwyndolin Cropped

A lot of Dark Souls lore is deliberately left ambiguous, so any discussion of Dark Sun Gwyndolin's quality as a brother will simply be going off the commonly agreed-upon lore for the family of Lord Gwyn. Gwyndolin was very much interested in keeping up appearances, even after Gwyn left Anor Londo. Even after his brother was stricken from the history books, and his sister, Gwynevere, left Anor Londo, Gwyndolin remained committed to making it appear that the Age of Fire would never end.

He let his sister go and made an illusion of her to encourage the undead to rekindle the First Flame and essentially undoing the symbolic power of his sister leaving Anor Londo. As far as audiences know, he never tried to reconnect with his nameless brother either. Gwyndolin wasn't a particularly good brother to Gwynevere or their brother.

4 MK's Bi-Han/Noob Saibot Is An Enemy To His Younger Brother, Sub-ZeroNoob Saibot and his Shadow Mortal Kombat 11 Cropped

Bi-Han was the first Sub-Zero in the Mortal Kombat franchise. He was later replaced by his younger brother, Kuai Liang. Bi-Han was killed by Scorpion, but he was resurrected by Quan Chi. Bi-Han became known as Noob Saibot and aimed to be the ruler of the Netherrealm.

When the two meet in Mortal Kombat 11, it is clear that Noob Saibot no longer has any care at all for his little brother. He only wants to serve his masters and advance his own goals. Sub-Zero can be the one to fight Noob Saibot, and the latter hurls insults at the quality of Kuai Liang as a Grandmaster. When Sub-Zero beats Bi-Han, Kuai Liang makes it clear that they are no longer brothers of any sort.

3 MGS's Liquid Snake Has Tried To Sabotage Solid Snake At Every Turn7 Liquid and Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes

Liquid Snake, Solid Snake, and Solidus Snakes are the three brothers cloned from Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid. Liquid Snake was said to have Big Boss' "recessive genes," and this made Liquid come to resent his brother, Solid Snake. This resentment only grew over time, and Liquid Snake began making active attempts to kill Solid Snake.

Liquid Snake helped set up the trap that awaited Solid Snake on Shadow Moses Island, and he took fool advantage of his presence to further his own agendas. In the end, Solid and Liquid Snake battled it out atop the ruins of Metal Gear REX until the FOXDIE virus killed Liquid Snake. This wasn't the end of Liquid Snake's story, however.

2 F.E.A.R.'s Paxton Fettel And Point Man Are Nightmare Brotherspaxton fettel in fear 3 screenshot

Paxton Fettel is the main villain of the first F.E.A.R. game. He leads a paramilitary unit of telepathic supersoldiers whose ultimate goal is to destroy the perpetrators of Project Origin and the Armacham Technology Corporation. Meanwhile, the Point Man is the silent player character who leads the F.E.A.R. squad whose job it is to bring down Fettel.

Neither one of these men can be said to be the best of brothers, though Fettel certainly is the worse of the two for helping initiate an apocalyptic event. That said, the F.E.A.R. canon is such a mess of rather shocking events, and most people would want the psychotic cannibal Fettel or the silent killer Point Man as their brother. In a way, they kind of deserve each other.

1 Devil May Cry's Vergil Is An Absolute Monster To Dante

Vergil in Devil May Cry 5

Dante and Vergil are the twin human/demon hybrid children of the demon Sparda and the human Eva. The two lived their lives largely apart from one another, with Dante coming to love humanity but Vergil wanting to claim his demonic birthright. He and Dante fight one another several times over the game series.

Notable fights include Vergil trying to raise Temen-ni-gru in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening and returning for a big final showdown with Dante in Devil May Cry 5. That said, the two seem to forgive one another at the end of Devil May Cry 5 and go on a demon-killing mission in Hell itself.
