World of Warcraft just showed off an amazing new lore video detailing the backstory of the Lich King in anticipation of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. The short World of Warcraft video was narrated by Laura Bailey, the voice actress for Jaina Proudmoore.

Wrath of the Lich King was one of the most beloved expansion packs in World of Warcraft’s long history. The expansion wraps up many plot threads begun during Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne expansion. World of Warcraft Classic’s return to the vaunted expansion is imminent, giving players another chance to relive the historic period of WoW history.

While the video does not introduce anything Warcraft lore hounds didn’t already know, it is wonderfully-presented all the same. In addition to being a major character in her own right, Jaina Proudmoore shares an intimate history with Arthas, making her the perfect narrator for the video. Rendered in the same art style as the beloved pre-expansion Warbringers, Harbingers, and Afterlives shorts, the Lich King lore video is a great place for newer fans to catch up on the story of the iconic villain, and old ones to refresh their memory.

Laura Bailey herself is an incredibly talented actress who has voiced Jaina since World of Warcraft first launched. Known for her roles across hundreds of games and shows, fans may also recognize her as Abby from The Last of Us Part 2, Black Widow across Marvel game titles, and one of the key players of Critical Role. Bailey is also an accomplished singer, as she proved in the Jaina Warbringers short during Battle for Azeroth.

Players adored the new World of Warcraft lore short. Though more modern World of Warcraft expansions have been received with mixed reviews, Wrath of the Lich King represented the height of the series for many. This video reminded them of those days, and of their favorite villain in World of Warcraft, the Lich King. These players hope World of Warcraft releases more videos in this fashion for some of their other favorite heroes and villains.

World of Warcraft is currently developing Dragonflight, its next expansion pack. Many hope World of Warcraft releases another series of Warbringers-like animated shorts for Dragonflight as it has for every expansion since Warlords of Draenor. Though it has not released any information on these videos, Dragonflight is scheduled to release before the end of the year. If these videos are coming, World of Warcraft players will likely hear about them soon.

World of Warcraft is available on PC. Wrath of the Lich King Classic launches September 26.
