Highlights

  • World of Warcraft may introduce a game mode inspired by the popular indie game Vampire Survivors, according to evidence found in the Patch 10.2.5 PTR.
  • The Vampire Survivors game mode details are unclear, but players speculate it could be similar to the Plants vs. Zombies minigame in WoW, offering special rewards.
  • The recently-discovered Dreadlord's Regalia cosmetic ensemble in WoW could potentially be connected to this crossover, but it seems unlikely that major characters would be used in a minigame unless it was part of a larger storyline.

World of Warcraft might be getting a game mode inspired by Vampire Survivors in the future. While little information is available about what this might entail, evidence pointing towards a crossover between World of Warcraft and Vampire Survivors was found in the Patch 10.2.5 Public Test Realm.

Vampire Survivors is a bullet hell action roguelike indie game that took the world by storm when it first launched in October 2022. Over the last year, Vampire Survivors received tons of new updates and content, and became an award-winning title, with accolades at the Golden Joysticks, D.I.C.E. awards, and several other shows.

Popular World of Warcraft Characters Appear in a New Patch 10.2.5 Feature

An exciting new system from World of Warcraft Patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal, features the return of some particularly beloved characters.

Now, it seems like Vampire Survivors may be coming to World of Warcraft in some fashion. On the Patch 10.2.5 PTR, players have discovered two entries in the WoW Scenescript database–the files usually used for some cutscenes and minigames in World of Warcraft–that suggest a Vampire Survivors game mode is coming to the game. No other information is available as to what this potential game mode is, or when it could show up, or how it will be played, but it seems like World of Warcraft may be trying to capitalize on Vampire Survivors’ popularity in the future.

World of Warcraft x Vampire Survivors Crossover Files

  • 10.2.5 - Vampire Survivors Mode - Game Mode - Client Scene (OJF)
  • 10.2.5 - Vampire Survivor Mode - Data - Creatures

Without an announcement or stronger evidence, players can only speculate as to what this potential crossover could entail. Many have looked to Peaceblooms vs. Ghouls–the Plants vs. Zombies minigame in World of Warcraft–as a potential source for clues. This small crossover event allows players to earn the Singing Sunflower pet, so a similar Vampire Survivors minigame could follow suit with similar rewards.

Other fans wonder if the recently-discovered Dreadlord’s Regalia cosmetic ensemble might be involved as well. Dreadlords, along with their creator Sire Denathrius and the Venthyr of Revendreth in World of Warcraft, are some of the only examples of vampires in WoW besides the seldom-used san’layn, so it is possible these cosmetics could be connected to this potential crossover. That said, it seems unlikely World of Warcraft would use such major characters in a minigame unless it was connected to a greater storyline.

While these file strings may not amount to anything, players may have another fun surprise in store for them soon. Fans of Vampire Survivors should keep a close eye on World of Warcraft’s next few patches just to be sure.
