Highlights

  • Players can keep their maps clutter-free in WoW with the new Warbands feature that automatically hides quests that have been completed with other characters.
  • This should enable players to navigate major hubs like Valdrakken more easily by toggling completed quests on and off on the map.
  • This quality-of-life improvement in WoW's The War Within expansion is just one of many exciting features to come.

A new map filter in World of Warcraft: The War Within now lets players hide standard quests they’ve already finished on another character. This amazing Warbands quality-of-life feature will help World of Warcraft fans navigate with less clutter on their map, and more easily find questlines that they haven’t finished yet.

Warbands is a collection of new quality-of-life features in WoW: The War Within that improves the game's already-impressive alt-friendliness. Marketed as “account-wide everything,” players will be able to share many faction reputations, currencies, and even a special bank.

World of Warcraft Reveals New Human Racial Ability in The War Within

World of Warcraft: The War Within replaces the iconic Diplomacy racial ability for Humans with a brand new trait that players are likely to enjoy.

However, a new map filter coming in The War Within will also help players better track quest progress while simultaneously decluttering their maps. Once World of Warcraft releases The War Within, standard quests fans have already completed on a different character will automatically be hidden from the mini map and in-game interface. Players can still accept these quests, and can toggle them to be visible once more on the map, but by default, fans will no longer have repeat quests clogging up their UI.

Warbands Completed Quests Toggle in WoW: The War Within

  • By default, standard quests fans have completed on other characters are automatically hidden on the in-game map.
  • This removes some of the clutter from maps on alts, especially in major hubs like Valdrakken in WoW: Dragonflight.
  • Players can change this setting via a toggle on the map.

Like the account-wide World of Warcraft reputation changes, this new map filter is only supported for quests from Dragonflight and The War Within at the moment. It is possible World of Warcraft will go back and implement these for legacy quests from Shadowlands and earlier, but that might not happen for some time after The War Within releases.

This simple change is a huge quality-of-life improvement that many fans didn’t even realize they needed. All throughout Dragonflight, World of Warcraft has introduced tons of world events, side stories, and other quests with every major update. While this gives a lot for players to do, it also causes the maps for major hubs like Valdrakken to be horrendously cluttered on new characters, making it challenging to navigate. Needless to say, fans are unanimously excited about this toggle.

Beyond the new quality-of-life features coming with Warbands, The War Within adds tons of other exciting things as well. One of the most highly-anticipated parts of the expansion is Skyriding – a streamlined version of Dragonriding that allows nearly every WoW flying mount to use the dynamic flight system introduced in Dragonflight. Most of these features are coming in The War Within's Pre-Patch, so fans only have to wait a few more months until they are fully implemented.
