World of Warcraft's upcoming expansion, The War Within, will introduce a new storyline to kickstart the Worldsould Saga and provide plenty of new content for players to tackle as they level up and grind through the endgame.

Speaking of endgame, one of the most notable and hyped new features is the new Delves endgame content. These will be a new key endgame activity for players, with loot and a Great Vault row to boot. Here are all the details on the new Delves coming in The War Within.

World of Warcraft: The War Within Delves Explained

Delves are a new piece of endgame content coming in World of Warcraft's next expansion, The War Within, and will become a new endgame pillar that players can complete and enjoy in the upcoming expansion and beyond.

This new content will also feature narrative tie-ins with each season of The War Within, including an accompanying NPC. It will have its own challenges and rewards and evolve over time with new ideas and content that will separate it from the usual Raid and Mythic dungeon-style content players are used to.

What Players Can Expect From Delves

Thanks to some notable differences, Delves will offer a different style of content for players compared to other endgame activities. For starters, these new pieces of content will consist of 10-15-minute adventures players can find in the new Khaz Algar zone coming in the expansion. These can be tackled solo or with up to 5 players, with difficulty adjusting accordingly.

There will be 12 Delves at launch, at least that has been revealed, as Blizzard has teased a hidden one players will need to find themselves. These are as follows:

Zone

Delve Names

Isle of Dorn

  • Earthcrawl Mines
  • Kriegval's Rest
  • Fungal Folly

Hallowfall

  • Skittering Breach
  • Nightfall Sanctum
  • The Sinkhole
  • Mycomancer Cavern

The Ringing Deeps

  • The Waterworks
  • The Dread Pit
  • Deepwalker Hold

Azj-Kahet

  • The Spiral Weave
  • Rak-Rethan Abyss

These Delves will be different in nature, with the idea that each feels distinct and offers different gameplay and ideas. For example, some may include bosses, while others may include more puzzles and non-combat-related challenges, but all of them will have rewards to unlock regardless of the content style. Delves will also change over time, with different encounters or moments happening when you enter and as the season progresses.

In addition, Delves will be class agnostic, meaning players can bring any combination of class and role they choose. For example, an entire party of healers could undertake a Delve if they choose. Those who prefer to tackle them solo can rely on their companion NPC, which will level up and be tailored to fill specific roles to aid them during their adventures.

On top of all that, Delves, alongside other world activities, will replace the PvP row in the Great Vault with rewards that will go up to Heroic Raid level in power, meaning Delves can be the primary way players can gear in The War Within. That doesn't mean there won't be loot to gain from Delves, with plenty of chests and treasure to gain, including some that require keys and other prerequisites. There will also be some cosmetic items like hats and a customizable mount, similar to the Dragonriding mounts currently in Dragonflight players can earn during their delving adventures.

Delves look to be a major new piece of content for players that is both original and exciting; now, as long as Blizzard sticks the landing at launch, these new open-world activities may become a fan favorite quickly.

As The War Within is not out yet, all currently known information about Delves is subject to change.
