With only days left until the next content update, Blizzard released the patch notes for World of Warcraft Patch 10.0.5. The update will release nearly two months after the launch of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, the ninth expansion in the long-running MMORPG.

Yesterday, in keeping with an annual tradition, World of Warcraft released a new rabbit mount in celebration of the Chinese New Year. The mount is themed after the Year of the Rabbit and was dubbed "Jade, Bright Foreseer" by Blizzard. The Lunar Festival, also modeled after the Chinese New Year, will return to the game in Patch 10.0.5 as well. Future updates to holidays, as outlined in Blizzard's 2023 roadmap for World of Warcraft, will come in the spring in Patch 10.0.7 at the earliest.

World of Warcraft Patch 10.0.5 will release next Tuesday, January 24. Ahead of the patch, Blizzard released a list of items coming with the update, including changes to various classes and specializations. Balance and Guardian Druids will see their talent trees redesigned, with some talents receiving changes in point cost and some being removed from certain specializations. Significant changes were also made to the talent trees of other specializations such as Discipline Priest, Brewmaster Monk, and Mistweaver Monk. In addition, changes were made to War Mode, Solo Shuffle, and crafting and gathering professions. Click here to read the full patch notes.

World of Warcraft Patch 10.0.5 will also see the release of the new Trading Post feature. The Trading Post will allow players that play the game normally to collect a currency that can be used to purchase cosmetic items that were either unobtainable over time, or just difficult to grind out for. Players can earn up to 1000 Trader's Tenders per month, with 500 of them coming from just having an active World of Warcraft subscription. An additional 500 Trader's Tenders can be earned by completing tasks in the Trading Log, which has been compared to the Challenge Log in Final Fantasy 14, and to a battle pass featured in free-to-play games such as Overwatch 2. Some of the Trading Log's tasks may include activities such as daily quests, raids, dungeons, PVP, and crafting, with the log featuring new themes every month. A new event called The Storm's Fury will also be added to the game, which will have additional rewards for players to earn.

In addition, Patch 10.0.5 will have even updates to the World of Warcraft user interface. The ability to move and resize even more interface items such as the experience and reputation bars, the micro menu, and inventory bags will be added when the update goes live. With these features and more coming down the pipeline, World of Warcraft looks to continue the upward trend in 2023.
