There are all sorts of holiday events that take place in World of Warcraft. Aside from adding variety to the game, these events add their own unique spin to seasonal things in the real world. For example, Hallow's End is the World of Warcraft equivalent of Halloween, while Feast of Winter Veil is essentially Christmas.
This also includes events celebrating the start of a season. As Summer officially begins, World of Warcraft turns up the heat with the Midsummer Fire Festival, which runs from June 21st to July 5th. All across Azeroth and beyond, you will find towering bonfires and festive tents. Here is how this event works and what sort of rewards you can earn during the Midsummer Fire Festival.

Midsummer Fire Festival Explained
Once the Midsummer Fire Festival begins, you will find large bonfires in all major cities and in some towns/villages throughout the many zones. Both Alliance and Horde have their own specific bonfires in almost every zone in the game, except for Shadowlands. At every bonfire, you will come across an NPC that will offer you a quest. Completing this brief quest allows you to honor the flame, which gives you gold (and EXP if you are not at the level cap on that character). You also get some Burning Blossoms, which are the currency used for this event. Honoring every single flame along with desecrating the opposing faction's flames is the best way to farm Burning Blossoms.
However, if you come across a bonfire that belongs to the opposite faction, you will have the option to desecrate the fire. While this does reward more gold and EXP, it does flag you for PvP. At that point, another player from the opposing faction can attack you if they feel so inclined. The Dragon Isles are an exception, as each zone has one neutral bonfire and they cannot be desecrated. Below are maps of where all the bonfires can be found.
For some zones like Silithus, Teldrassil, and Tirisfal Glades, you will need to speak Zidormi to time travel back to a point prior to the drastic changes that occured in these areas, as the bonfires don't show up in the destroyed versions of these zones.

World of Warcraft Making Big Changes to Holiday Event Bosses
With the start of the Midsummer Fire Festival, World of Warcraft makes some massive improvements to how loot drops from event bosses works.
The Frost Lord Returns
Just like with Hallow's End and Love is in the Air, there is a special seasonal boss that you can fight during this event. In the Dungeon Finder, there will be a new tab that will allow you to queue up and take down the giant ice elemental, Ahune. Once per day, defeating Ahune gives you a Satchel of Chilled Goods. In addition to getting gold and Burning Blossoms from this bag, you also have a chance at getting a new cosmetic appearance for the Cliffside Wylderdrake mount. This year, Blizzard has added bad luck protection to ensure that players have a better chance of getting this cosmetic.
Ahune is not particularly difficult. Kill the adds as they spawn, but watch out for Ahune's attacks. Eventually, Ahune will disappear, and a crystal will appear in its place. Attack this crystal and destroy it to defeat Ahune and claim your loot.
Torch Tossing and Catching
At each capital city bonfire, there are a bunch of NPCs around it. One of them will offer you a series of daily quests involving a mini-game where you can toss torches or try to throw them up and catch them. This is a decent resource for a small number of daily Burning Blossoms in addition to Ahune, so make sure to do these if you want to get as many of the rewards as possible.
There is also a nearby Ribbon Pole that you can interact with. Doing so causes you to spin around, and as long as you stay near the pole, you will gain a buff that increases EXP gained from killing monsters by 10%. The duration of the buff can go up to a maximum of one hour.
Midsummer Fire Festival Vendor
Just like with any major holiday event in World of Warcraft, there are plenty of rewards for players to purchse with their hard earned Burning Blossoms. In every major city, there is a vendor near the bonfire who sells the following items which range from cosmetics for transmog to unique holiday-themed toys.
