World of Warcraft player Portergauge discovered a new ability in the Patch 10.2 PTR that might have given a huge hint as to how those story chapters might end. The ability, called The Great Dragons, is a backend spell used to trigger certain cutscene events and cinematics in the game. According to the ability’s text, the five Dragon Aspects–Alexstrasza, Kalecgos, Nozdormu, plus newcomers Ebyssian and Merithra–arrive to receive the blessing of Amirdrassil, the new World Tree in World of Warcraft. However, Vyranoth, the Primal Incarnate of Ice, is listed among the Aspects, indicating she could become an Aspect herself, if not a leader of equal importance.

In the brief story of Patch 10.1.7, Vyranoth fought with and broke away from her brother Fyrakk, the last other Primal Incarnate still on Azeroth, after disagreements on what their goals should be. Shortly after, she contacted her old friend, World of Warcraft's Dragon Queen Alexstrasza, and reached an accord, agreeing to aid the Aspects in the coming battle. In Patch 10.2, Vyranoth and her followers will aid players against Fyrakk and his forces as they seek to claim the power of Amirdrassil.

This new ability suggests that Vyranoth’s allegiance may only be the beginning. One of the major plot points of Dragonflight has been to help the Aspects regain their powers. If all six dragon leaders receive this gift from the World Tree in Patch 10.2, Vyranoth may go on to represent a sixth dragonflight consisting of Proto-drakes and other minor dragons like Netherwing and Thorignir Storm Dragons, both of which will appear in an upcoming Guardians of the Dream questline featuring the former Primal Incarnate.

That said, this newly-discovered ability is still on the Public Test Realm. This possible story beat could change before it is officially implemented, or it might never appear at all. Either way, Vyranoth is definitely going to play a major role in the next chapter of Dragonflight, so players will have to wait and see what the story has in store for her when the update officially drops.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
