A few World of Warcraft players are concerned about one specific aspect of how the game's balance as the next content patch draws near. Recently, gamers brought some attention to how the orcs' performance in combat can be altered significantly compared to some of the game's playable races, which can pose some choice problems in how World of Warcraft players create their characters.

Since the beginning of the Warcraft series in the 90s, the orcs have been among the most prominent races and have produced the most iconic leaders of the Horde. Following the liberation of the orcs by Thrall, the orcs overcame the blood curse put on them by the Burning Legion. Since then, the orcs have become the driving force behind one of Azeroth's superpowers and turned the Horde into the red-clad foil to their blue-armored foes, the Alliance. Though the Alliance and the Horde have traded blows in World of Warcraft over the years, the focus was shifted away from the faction wars and towards other matters in both Shadowlands and Dragonflight. However, that has not stopped players from pointing out that some races within a given faction may perform better or worse in some game aspects.

On the r/wow subreddit, a user named Happy-Mechanic pointed out that the orcs' racial ability called "Blood Fury" was scaled up to level 70, but other racial abilities such as the mechagnomes' racial ability "Combat Analysis" were not properly addressed when Dragonflight raised the level cap. While "Blood Fury" is a cooldown on a short timer, the burst damage can come in handy for melee DPS and tank specializations that need an extra boost, especially in raids and Mythic+ dungeons. By contrast, "Combat Analysis" and similar racial abilities are passive and more consistent if a fight drags on, albeit when scaled appropriately.

The post by Happy-Mechanic received over 2.9k upvotes on r/wow in a span of three days. In the comments, some World of Warcraft players pointed out that, while "Blood Fury" was a powerful cooldown for some classes, it paled in comparison against some passive abilities and was not as mandatory as more defensive cooldowns such as the Tauren's "War Stomp" ability. Some comments stated that the problems with racial abilities were just another example of why players tend to pick the Horde over the Alliance for high-end content. Reportedly Blizzard considered making cross-faction guilds a possibility to address the faction imbalance in World of Warcraft.

However, other users pointed out that Blizzard can adjust any racial abilities with enough data to support their claim. With just a couple of days until World of Warcraft releases Patch 10.0.5, it remains to be seen if and when Blizzard will address the aforementioned issues.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
