World of Warcraft is rolling out its alpha testing in preparation for Dragonflight’s launch before the end of the year. However, some content in a new Dragonflight alpha dungeon might give some hints as to the big bad of the World of Warcraft expansion. Warning: Spoilers for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight below.

The second week of alpha testing for Dragonflight began recently, which gave players access to two dungeons, Neltharus and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr. The latter of these two takes place in a secret wing of the Uldaman dungeon from Classic WoW.

During the dungeon, players encounter forces belonging to the Infinite dragonflight, a rogue faction of former bronze dragons who seek to change history. The end boss, Chrono-Lord Delos, is one of these renegade dragons who seeks to stop players from claiming a powerful artifact that can restore the power of the Dragon Aspects in World of Warcraft. After he is defeated, Delos delivers a cryptic line foretelling the fall of the Aspects, save one: Murozond, Lord of the Infinite.

World of Warcraft fans who played during Cataclysm may recognize Murozond as the leader of the Infinite dragonflight. During the End Times dungeon, it was revealed that Murozond was none other than a future version of Nozdormu, Aspect of the time-walking bronze dragons. Though Murozond was ultimately defeated in that future timeline, it seems he may have a major role to play in the expansion, though the exact scope of which is uncertain.

Because the bronze and Infinite dragons can manipulate time, just about anything is possible when they get involved in World of Warcraft. It is possible players might see the Nozdormu from our timeline fall into madness and become Murozond, or the timelines themselves may converge. Many players wonder if they will go back in time to the dawn of the Aspects to face Galakrond himself—doubly so because of his importance to the antagonistic Primalists and a recent World of Warcraft map of the Dragonblight that was datamined without the massive proto-drake’s skeleton.

World of Warcraft players are intrigued by this development in Dragonflight. Blizzard has been vague as to who the final boss of Dragonflight would be, but said it may become clear over the course of the story. While many suspected the Infinite dragonflight would make a reappearance, Delos and his followers sparked a whole new strain of speculation. Players won’t have to wait long to see what villains World of Warcraft has in store for them in Dragonflight and beyond.

World of Warcraft is available now on PC. The Dragonflight expansion plans to launch later this year.
