PvP isn't for everyone, but it's an intrinsic part of a lot of MMORPGs, and for some participants, it's the main reason they play the game in the first place. World of Warcraft is one such game, offering players a variety of fun and exciting opportunities to burn, freeze, blow up, or hack and slash each other to death.
World PvP is equally popular in both retail and legacy versions of the game, and Achievements were recently introduced in World of Warcraft: Classic as part of the impending release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Even for those raiders and role-players that aren't into PvP, some of these achievements are fairly easy, fun to unlock, and well worth the trouble.
6 For The Horde!/For The Alliance!
This is one of the best achievements in World of Warcraft, never mind just a PvP one, not only because of the reward but also for the whole experience. Prepare to be a part of one of the biggest raiding parties ever to not only get into all four of the opposing factions but also to kill their leaders. It's exciting to visit the other faction, even if it's in a hostile capacity, and the War Bear Mount is one of the fastest in the game.
What's difficult about this achievement is getting a big enough party together to blow through the guards or defenders of a capital city. Groups often assemble during special events or holidays when NPCs or other players might be otherwise occupied.
5 City Defender
On the flip side of "For The Horde/For the Alliance!" is "City Defender." This achievement requires players to be in their home cities to kill enemy players. Attackers hoping to finish the former achievement might be thwarted by those working on the latter.
A player defending their own faction's city from a raid that involves a lot of people is the most common way to finish this quest, but any situation that involves enemy players visiting rival towns also will work. Lunar Festival, when players are looking for the elusive elders, is one example. Another is Midsummer, which involves players lighting or putting out the festival bonfires.
4 Duel-icious
Unlike most other Achievements that require either a large raiding party or an impressive number of kills, this achievement only requires two players. It's not the same as a skirmish in an open-world PvP environment.
This is when a player asks to duel another and it works just as well with friendly players as it does with hostile ones. Win a duel after asking another player to partake in one, and unlock this achievement. It's one of the easiest to get besides "Honor Kill."
3 Frostwolf Howler/Stormpike Battle Charger
The mount looks great, whether it's the steed or the wolf, which is the real motivation for getting it. There's a similar achievement called "Call In The Calvary" which requires the player to purchase one of the PvP mounts available with honor points, and there's a very nice selection that includes mounts from almost all races. This is similar because gleaming white Frostwolf Howler is a PvP mount, but different because it's specific to one battleground.
Players can use it anywhere, however, and, once upon a time, it could not be purchased with honor points. In previous versions of the game, the mounts could only be purchased with marks from Alterac Valley. The vendor in the battleground is still the only place to get them, but they can now be purchased with honor points instead of marks.
2 Vehicular Gnomeslaughter
Kill 100 players in Wintergrasp. It sounds like another dull quota achievement, but what makes this one unique is that the player needs to make those kills with a canon or a vehicle. That means a 'toon can stand on a turret and mow down a group of attackers or get in a tank and shell a few of them to get this achievement.
It's just as much fun as it sounds, and with the addition of Northrend, Classic: WoW players can enjoy battlegrounds that include giant mechanized toys along with getting rewards for using them. This is required to complete the Master of Wintergrasp achievement and unlock the ability to purchase the Black War Mammoth mount.
1 Let's Get This Done
This might be the easiest battleground for those new to PvP because it's a small area with just a few simple objectives to fight for and hold. Every battleground has a similar achievement that includes winning the battleground in under a certain amount of time, but the one for Arathi Basin is probably the most fun. This achievement requires players to win an Arathi Basin match in less than six minutes.
What this means is that one side will take every resource and every flag within two minutes, and then proceed to push into the opposing factions' spawning area at the extreme far end of the map. This would have been more difficult when the first team to reach 2000 resource points was the winner, but the recent patch that brought in the achievements nerfed that down to 1600.
