World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic - The New Zones & How To Unlock Them
If you want all the details on World of Warcraft's new zones in Cataclysm Classic, and how to reach them, look no further.
It's not only Goblins and Worgens that can enjoy a whole new world, but several other locations got revamped, renewed, or rebuilt after the destruction of Deathwing. Some of the areas that date from Classic remain completely unchanged, and they still have their vintage charm. Of all the starting areas in WoW Classic: Cataclysm, these are the best.
10 Orcs
Valley Of Trials
- The original and virtually the same
The windswept little valley in southern Durotar is almost exactly the same as it's been since 2004, but there's even more space for Orcs than before now that Trolls have their own starting area in the Echo Isles.
Even the quests are the same, but there's a new flight path at Sen'jin Village to make travel to Orgrimmar easier, so that's nice.
9 Humans
Northshire
- A fairy tale in the forest
For those players that are looking for the old-fashioned medieval fantasy adventure experience, the Humans' starting location is still an ideal place to start. Players begin their adventure by killing pesky vermin and local thieves, ideal practice for a potential hero.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic - How To Get The Flight Master's License (Both Factions)
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic has introduced the ability to fly on a mount throughout Azeroth, but players will need a license.
The village of Goldshire and Elwynn Forest await, which are equally verdant and idyllic, and the main Alliance city of Stormwind is just around the corner, opening up even more questing opportunities.
8 Night Elves
Shadowglen
- The heart of Teldrassil
Still as beautiful and magical as it always was, Shadowglen is still a tranquil oasis in what is an otherwise chaotic world, and remains the same from previous expansions. Whether or not Night Elf players appreciate the isolation is a matter of opinion, but it's nice that one of Azeroth's oldest races was able to keep it simple.
Another advantage to starting here is the ability to move on to Darkshore, one of the few Alliance zones in Kalimdor, which has a busy harbor that provides access to other friendly locations.
7 Dwarves
Coldridge Valley
- The only snow-themed starting area
Horde players have to wait until Winterspring to experience a zone with snow and ice, but Alliance players can roll and Dwarf and start in one. Coldridge Valley is part of Dun Murogh, the realm north of the Humans and the headquarters of the Dwarves, and until Cataclysm, it was also the Gnomes' starting area.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic: Best Places To Farm Embersilk
If you're trying to farm Embersilk in World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic, this guide can help.
This starting area is so well-suited to the Dwarves, with its massive fireplaces and squat stone houses, that it's hard to imagine them anywhere else.
6 Tauren
Camp Narache
- Now with a handy northern entrance
The starting area of the Tauren is still in the same location in southern Mulgore, but it's gone through some renovations. The new access point is now provides easier access to the trainers, vendors, and flight path of Bloodhoof Village.
Some of the changes that have taken place here are due to the continuing encroachment of the Quilboar, who have always been in the area, but are expanding their territory.
5 Trolls
Darkspear Isle
- A tropical paradise for rigorous training
After they were driven from Stranglethorn Vale, the Trolls found a home with Thrall's Horde, and their new recruits shared their starting area with the Orcs. Now the Trolls have a space to call their very own on the islands off the southern coast of Durotar.
After Level 5, Trolls move on to the Echo Isles and share their living space with the now-shipwrecked Goblins.
4 Goblins
Island Of Kezan
- A sinking storyline worth rolling a Goblin to experience
This is an interesting starting area because the storyline begins just before Deathwing tears the world apart, a similar feature to the Worgen introduction as well. When their character reaches level 5 and moves on to join the Trolls in the Echo Isles, Kezan sinks beneath the waves, and players can never return.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic: Archaeology Guide
Archaeology is a secondary profession in Cataclysm Classic, and here is how this unique skill works.
The drama of Kezan is different from other areas of Azeroth. It has strict rules regarding social climbing and the extensive use of machinery, which play into the island's eventual destruction.
3 Gnomes
Gnomeregan
- Time to reclaim the ruined capital city
The Gnomes used to share a starting area with the Dwarves, since their city was irradiated and functioned as an instance instead of an actual town. The Gnomes have spent the last few years gathering their forces and regrouping to take their city back, however, and their new starting area is within Gnomeregan.
The dungeon part of Gnomeregan still exists, but this is separate from the part that starting characters are working to liberate.
2 Forsaken
Deathknell
- Now with Val'kyr power
Deathknell is one of the classic WoW zones that's remained mostly unchanged from the olden days. Undertaker Mordo is still waiting outside the Shallow Grave for new recruits, but now he has additional helpers, the Val'kyr, to help him raise and tutor the newly undead.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic - Where To Find Mountain Trout
If you need help hunting down Mountain Trout in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic, this guide can point you in the right direction.
Deathknell hasn't changed very much, but the Forsaken presence throughout Tirisfal Glades has been strengthed, with the formerly small city of Brill now a big city complete with a flight path.
1 Worgen
Gilneas
- A Victorian-style city
The truth of what lay beyond the faceless wall of northern Silverpine Forest has finally been revealed, and if that wasn't interesting enough, the design of Gilneas is also a unique new feature. The 18th-Century style of the buildings and clothing gives this area a distinct look from the classic European style of the other Human zones.
There's also the mysterious Worgen curse to unravel. It turns out it has its roots in Night Elf magic, with a strong connection to Elune, which is why the refugees of Gilneas are taken in by the sympathetic denizens of Darnassus.
