The Game Awards 2021 may have only showed a bit of footage for the big games releasing in 2022, but it did reveal some exciting projects that are set to debut much later. Alongside Alan Wake 2 and Star Wars Eclipse, a AAA Wonder Woman game was announced. A genuine surprise, DC fans have been quick to theorize about what it could be like, with developer Monolith Productions’ past work getting many gamers excited.

While Wonder Woman has a lot of potential when it comes to gameplay, as Themyscira could make for a great open world and the Nemesis system could be a good fit for the character’s foes, it will be interesting to see if it can tell a strong story. With Gal Gadot proving incredibly popular as Wonder Woman in the live action films, nailing the casting for the in-game version of Diana will be crucial. Fortunately, there are several great actors that would fit the character.

Laura Bailey

Kicking off the list is award-winning actor Laura Bailey. Last year, her role as Abby in The Last of Us 2 brought her a Best Performance win at The Game Awards. Given Abby’s raw strength and intense nature during a good portion of the game, it is easy to see how Laura Bailey could nail that part of the character. She has also played another superhero in the form of Marvel’s Avengers’ Black Widow, and while Wonder Woman has a more lighthearted personality, Bailey’s portrayal of Mary Jane in Marvel’s Spider-Man shows that she has the ability to pull that off as well. Having played several characters that embody Wonder Woman key traits of kindness and strength, she could likely bring both together for a strong performance.

Jennifer Hale

Jennifer Hale is an icon in the video game industry, and for good reason. She has lent her voice to several iconic characters, with Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect series being one of her most popular roles. Shepard’s voice would actually be a perfect fit for Wonder Woman, as it has a sense of power and experience behind it. However, Hale could surely nail a different voice for the character if needed. She has shown her range through her performances as Rivet in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Ashe in Overwatch, meaning that she could pull off whatever voice Monolith is hoping for.

Kimberly-Sue Murray

Rounding out the list is Kimberly-Sue Murray, an actor that is likely the least well-known name of the three. However, her role as Gamora in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy showed everything that would be needed for a good portrayal of Wonder Woman. Gamora is intense throughout a vast majority of the main story, but Murray also nails the quiet conversations that she can have with Quill on the Milano. Likewise, the emotional moment where she shares Nebula’s fate is perfectly acted, guaranteeing that any somber scenes in Wonder Woman would be unforgettable. If Murray were to deliver a performance that is similar to her take on Gamora, she would be a terrific fit for the DC hero.

While there are plenty of talented actors that would be able to bring Diana to life, many Wonder Woman fans would be particularly pleased if one of the actors mentioned above took on the role. However, it will likely be a long time before fans learn anything about the game’s casting and its overall narrative, so for now gamers will need to remain patient.

Wonder Woman is in development.
