A beloved X-Men actor is teasing his work on a brand-new video game, and fans think it could be Marvel’s Wolverine. Fresh off the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Insomniac revealed yet another PlayStation-exclusive project based on the ever-popular Marvel Comics superheroes back in 2021 - this time being Marvel’s Wolverine. Little is officially known about this upcoming comic-based adventure at the moment, save that it is being developed exclusively for the PS5 and will be set in the same universe as Insomniac’s other blockbuster Marvel games.

Rumors regarding Marvel’s Wolverine have slowly leaked since the game's surprise announcement two years ago. Spec Ops: The Line writer Walt Williams was confirmed as the Narrative Director for the game, which he says will have a much grittier and more mature tone than the two Marvel’s Spider-Man titles. This has led many to speculate that Marvel’s Wolverine will embrace Logan’s more violent aspects with a Mature-rating, though there is still an argument about whether or not this is necessary to effectively deliver the brutal combat fans expect of the character.

Meanwhile, fans are curious about who will be voicing the titular hero in Marvel’s Wolverine, and a popular actor from past X-Men video games has just hinted that he might be reprising his legendary role as Weapon X. Steve Blum recently posted a video of himself on social media after a facial capture session for an upcoming video game. While Blum himself couldn’t disclose exactly what he was working on, many are speculating that it is Marvel’s Wolverine due to his past work voicing Logan.

Already a prolific actor for anime and video games, Steve Blum first lent his deep, growling tone to Wolverine in X-Men Legends. Since then, he has played Wolverine in countless games and cartoons, with the most recent example being Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Blum has also voiced several other X-Men characters, including Jason Stryker in 2006’s X-Men: The Official Game and Wade Wilson/Deadpool in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine tie-in game.

Many fans consider Steve Blum’s portrayal of Wolverine to be on par with other classic comic-book castings like Kevin Conroy as Batman and Yuri Lowenthal’s turn as Peter Parker in both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel's Midnight Suns, so he is naturally a favorite to return as the troubled Canadian mutant in Marvel’s Wolverine. Of course, Blum’s recent facial capture session could have been for anything, so only time will tell if he dons Logan’s indestructible Adamantium claws once more.

Marvel's Wolverine is in development for PS5.
