The final boss of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s main campaign circles us right back to the beginning. As the player recovers in the decrepit remains of the village from the very first mission, the Blindfolded Boy, who set this quest in motion, begins to show signs that the fight is still not over.

In coming to the arena that once held the game’s very first boss, the Blindfolded Boy reveals that he is inhabited by the demonic Qi, and only striking him down will release the hold it has over his mortal form. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty saves one of its best fights for last in this challenging final encounter.

How to Beat the Blindfolded Boy

The Blindfolded Boy has an eclectic moveset that encompasses every lesson the game has taught thus far. He attacks quickly, stacks combos incessantly, and, to make matters worse, he can even parry the player’s attacks if things begin to look too much to his disadvantage. The best way to beat him is to dodge precisely and never get greedy when on offense.

Breaking down the moves to look out for, the Blindfolded Boy utilizes a similar moveset to Yu Ji but with minor tweaks that make him more agile. Rather than immediately getting distance, the Blindfolded Boy likes to press the advantage and stack combos. He often sword-spins in before following up with a back-slash or a four-strike sword combo, depending on the player’s position. He changes the pace of the fight often by utilizing an unspeakable variety of dagger throws. Though they may seem intimidating because there are so many of them, the daggers all follow the same principle for their rate of fire, which is to say they will all hang in the air for one beat before shooting directly at the player.

Dodging is essential here not only because it will obviously keep the player alive but it also builds this fight’s most important currency: blue spirit gauge. Use the spirit gauge energy for every counterattack. This strategy will keep strikes precise and ensure that the player does not overplay their advantage. Spamming an assault on the Blindfolded Boy will leave the player exposed to his attacks which frankly are much stronger.

The Blindfolded boy has several special moves that require precision dodges. It has no doubt been seen time and time again by now, but the Blindfolded Boy also builds a ball of Qi to launch at the player. He also copies Yu Ji’s spinning sword special move as well as his grab, which replicates the exact timing and lead-up. The danger of the Blindfolded Boy’s special moves is not the moves themselves but the understanding that he often stacks them. Perfect dodging one may lead him to immediately send another. Of course, if the player is prepared for this, it becomes an advantage because perfectly dodging each of these will expose the Blindfolded Boy to a stagger that allows for massive damage.

The Blindfolded Boy, like Yu Ji, utilizes a fair amount of elemental tricks that deserve appropriate caution. Periodically and without reason, the Blindfolded Boy will recalibrate his moveset with a new elemental type. He always telegraphs this by sending out an AOE attack that demonstrates the element first. Keep distance from the AOE's and be ready to dodge when he inevitably rushes in.

The scariest move that the Blindfolded Boy has is a brief cloning of himself. Two replicas will suddenly appear beside him. Invariably, these clones each do a sword spin while the true Blindfolded Boy tries to rush in with a slashing special move or hangs back to power up a ball of Qi. Don’t panic when he sends his goons. This point of the fight is designed for him to try to throw the player into a dodge-spam frenzy so that he can try to stun. Simply dodge the spinning swords and wait patiently for him to use a special move.

After stunning the Blindfolded Boy and taking a chunk of his health, be wary of pressing the advantage too hard. The Blindfolded Boy will parry if he is pressed, and his parry can leave the player exposed to his ruthless counterattacks.

Stay calm, wait for him to make his own mistakes, and aim to hit with precision. So long as the player follows those rules, defeating the Blindfolded Boy should be simple, leading to the game’s final cutscene and end credits. Congratulations on beating Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty!
