During the Netflix Geeked week earlier this month, The Witcher fans received a pleasant surprise in the form of a digital convention dedicated to everything the magical world of Geralt of Rivia has to offer. The event, titled WitcherCon, is scheduled for July 9 and has just landed its first teaser, which promises big reveals to come for the television series and games.

The highly-anticipated event is being brought together by both Netflix and CD Projekt Red, the creators of the show and gaming franchise respectively, and is being labeled a “celebration of The Witcher universe and its community.” The 30-second teaser is packed with information related to WitcherCon and could perhaps have to be viewed multiple times in order to catch it all.

Posted on social media, the teaser is already getting a lot of interest. It consists of scenes from both the games and the Netflix show, along with several shots of the iconic “hmm” from Geralt. Fans can expect the July 9 event to be “packed with epic reveals and season 2 surprises.” The second season of the popular Netflix series has completed filming, after facing several delays, and is expected to release by the end of the year. Fans have already seen two teasers, featuring Henry Cavill’s Geralt and Freya Allan’s Ciri, but the WitcherCon teaser promises bigger reveals, and contains a series of blurred video clips, which are being referred to as “top secret.”

It was expected that WitcherCon would consist of celebrity panels, but the teaser now confirms interviews and sneak peeks with the cast of the show, including Cavill, Allan, and Anya Chalotra who plays Yennefer. They will be joined by The Witcher creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Apart from them, the CD Projekt’s developer team and their head of studio Adam Badowski will also be making an appearance to talk about the gaming franchise.

WitcherCon now also has its own website, which features a timer counting down to the event. The official site confirms that the event will be streamed on Netflix and Projekt Red’s YouTube and Twitch channels. There will be no announcements regarding the next game in The Witcher franchise, which might be a letdown for the gamers. But, there is still a lot in store for the fans of the Netflix series. Fans are also hoping that there will be some update on the anime series The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, but there is no mention of it in the teaser.

The Witcher season 2 is expected to premiere on Netflix later this year.
