As filming begins for The Witcher season 2, information about characters, locations, and clues about where the plot is heading slowly make their way to the public. Any piece of information sparks online forums to speculate on its significance, even if it's just a picture of a prop sword, fans figure out (or try to figure out) what it means.

The Witcher proved to be a bit of a surprise hit for Netflix. The series, based on the work of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, is one that gamers are familiar with, thanks to a trio of popular games. The appeal in the mainstream was less of a guarantee, yet the show has drawn plenty of buzz. Fans and gamers alike have attached themselves to Geralt of Rivia's story, have been inspired to create incredible fan art, and are waiting to dive back into the story with season 2.

So when Netflix reveals a cast list of new characters, but there are a few omissions, fans wonder when they might find out about those missing entries. The Witcher fan site Redanian Intelligence is doing what it can to fill in those blanks, and has reported that Francesca Findabair's brother, Gage, has been added to the cast and will be played by British actor Kaine Zajaz.

The character is described as "a rotund bruiser with raven eyes" with "youthful exuberance and comic warmth" and is slated to appear in 4 episodes in season 2. Gage joins an expanding roster of characters as the series looks set to build on the world established in the first season.

Zajaz is already filming scenes for the character, posting images from the set of The Witcher along with co-star Tom Canton (who plays the elf Filavandrel), as they film some early scenes at an elven camp along with Mecia Simson (Francesca).

After a first season that left fans with a number of plot threads to speculate on, season 2 is introducing more characters to widen and deepen the lore of the series. There is still some time until season 2 will be released, so it is more than likely that fans will learn more about where this next season is heading before then. Adding Gage to the mix puts one more piece into its place in the puzzle for now.

The Witcher season 2 is in development for Netflix.
