The Witcher has been a wild success for Netflix, but the company was already betting on its success as they renewed it for a second season way before the series even premiered. The Witcher series premiered on Netflix just a few days ago, and it got the same response the company had expected. Even though some The Witcher reviews felt that it was a mediocre show, the show has the highest scores on IMDB so far.
Netflix’s The Witcher series is based on the original novels which go back to a time before the games, so fans can take a closer look at the lives of their favorite characters from the games. Henry Cavill plays the part of Geralt of Rivia, the infamous witcher from both the games and the novels, who travels the dangerous lands slaying beasts and monsters while fighting his inner demons. Even though fans have been happy with the casting of Cavill as the lead, some are demanding that Star Wars actor Mark Hamill join the cast as Vesemir - an older witcher that serves as a father figure to Geralt. Back in 2018, some fans tweeted about Hamill being the perfect fit for this role, and Mark Hamill replied in agreement, which clearly made the fans even more adamant about getting him to play this important role in the series.
One fan even took matters into his own hands and quickly designed a mock-up of how Hamill would look as Vesemir. BossLogic is a very talented artist that regularly creates mockup images for rumored castings or fan requests. This time he has shown off what Mark Hamill’s Vesemir might look in Netflix’s adaptation of the popular series. Fans of the series, or at least the vocal majority, are completely sold on the idea that Luke Skywalker should make his way into The Witcher land, and Hamill also agrees.
Recently, IGN quoted Hamill’s previous tweet along with a picture of him and Vesemir, and Hamill once again replied with an eager tweet saying, “I still have no idea what this is or what it's about, but I DO know they haven't ever asked me to play Vesemir... yet.” This level of interest is certainly surprising, and if the same strategy worked for Henry Cavill, then there’s a high chance that it will work for Hamill as well.
The Witcher season 1 is out now on Netflix.
