Netflix has struck gold with its newest hit series The Witcher but it has not come without comparison. For a lot of people, the show is their first introduction to the material and the only thing to compare it to is Game of Thrones from HBO.

The Witcher originated as a novel series from Andrzej Sapkowski and became a video game when CD Projekt Red decided to adapt the storyline. It found more prominence with the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and gained a huge following, but the stories of Geralt have had fans since the very beginning.

While there are a lot of comparisons to be made between Game of Thrones and The Witcher, one of the key points made is usually the similarities between the characters of  Ciri and Arya. Arya is the tomboyish Stark from Game of Thrones that doesn't want to be a lady, but would rather learn to swordfight and become an assassin. Ciri has some similarities to Arya but is by no means the same character and the actress will tell fans the same thing.

In a recent interview with IGN Ciri actress, Freya Allan, and the actress for Yennefer, Anya Charlotra, read a fan-submitted question saying "I really hope 4 Ciri to be the next Arya." Freya gave the best response to this question and all of the comparisons she has gotten. She said "She's not going to be the next Arya. She's Ciri. She's very different."

This is the best response to the comparisons so far. Allan wants viewers to stop comparing the tow shows and accept and enjoy that the shows are completely different. The comparisons will more than likely not stop, but hopefully,  viewers will tone it down and enjoy the show after being told by Ciri herself.

With all of the buzz around the show, a second season was approved before the show aired on Netflix. So, viewers will be able to see the continuing story of Ciri and maybe some other familiar Witcher characters and see just how different from Arya Stark she is.

The Witcher is now streaming on Netflix.
