Table of contents

The world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is full of content and interesting stories for players to experience. Sometimes players miss out on some captivating side quests because they didn't check the notice board or forgot to talk to the NPC at the side of the road. One such example is the 'Wine Wars' side quests which players can play if they have the 'Blood and Wine' DLC installed.

Players can get the quest by checking any notice board in Toussaint. It is one of the longer side quests in-game and players can get multiple endings based on which path they take and the choices they make. One of these paths plays out during the 'Wine Wars: Coronata' quest.

Starting The Quest

The auction for the Belgaard Vineyard takes place at Plegmund's Bridge

To start the quest, players need to first play through the 'Wine Wars: Belgaard' quest. They will need to arrive at the location of Plegmund's Bridge and then watch the argument take place. Afterward, they will need to talk to Liam de Coronata who will give them the 'Wine Wars: Coronata' side quest. Players will need to clear out some problems at Liam's vineyard. There are five tasks in total and players will find themselves facing some challenging enemies.

Vineyard Infestation

Beastiary Entry for Archespores

Players will be tasked with clearing out the area infested with Archespores. In order to give themselves an advantage, players can make some 'Cursed Oil' and apply it on their silver sword to give them a damage boost. Alternatively, the Igni sign is also useful against the monsters. Their poison can whittle players' health quickly so they must take care to avoid it. Players must attack the Archespores when they are in their flower form and stay away from closed flowers which will explode when they get close. After killing all of the monsters, players must find the hole in the ground and drop a bomb inside. Once it goes off, the objective is completed.

Abandoned Site

The player is fighting a group of Archespores

As players reach this location, they will spot a few other Archespores who have taken over the area. Taking them out is fairly straightforward. All players need to make sure is to stay out of the way of the poison spit and closed flowers which explode if they get too close to them. Silver swords do the job efficiently on their own but cursed oil and Igni provide an extra edge.

Once the monsters are dead, players need to destroy their nest with a bomb. Once that is done, the local populace returns and the objective is completed.

Person In Distress

Bandits from The Witcher 3

Players must find the entrance to a cave when they get to the location. They must take care not to jump from too high because they can take significant damage or outright die if they do so. Inside, they will find a group of bandits they need to dispatch. Once taken care of, players will save a herbalist. They can escort her personally or tell her to go on her hoping she gets to her destination safely. Afterward, players can seek the herbalist out and buy alchemy ingredients from her.

Hidden Treasure

Cave Trolls are hunched around a bonfire

The quest marker will send players to a bridge where they will face two cave trolls. While they are only two, they pack a punch with their attacks so players must take caution. Ogre Oil is effective against the trolls and players can use Quen to block out their strong attacks. The trolls are slow and which is something players can use to their advantage. Using a flurry of fast attacks, dodging their swings, and picking them off one at a time will take care of the trolls easily. Actually finding the treasure is not required. Just dispatching the trolls will fulfill the requirements for the task.

Guarded Treasure

An Archespore with its closed bud in the backgroud

When they arrive at the location, players will find some Archespores at the location. If they have faced them before in any of the quest's other objectives, then they will just need to repeat the process. Once they are taken care of, players will need to loot the body and receive 'Orders On Elegant Stationery'. The document is one of the required items to start to 'Wine Wars: Deus In The Machina' quest. In order to start that quest, players will need to read both copies of the 'Orders On Elegant Stationery'.

The other copy is found at the Vermentino vineyard along with a key, should players want to pursue that quest. It will uncover sabotage at both Vermentino and Coronata vineyards. Otherwise, once the monsters have been dispatched and the body is looted, the objective is completed.

Completion And Reward

Liam and Matilda after they get the vineyard

Once all objectives have been completed, players will need to the Ducal Clerk at Plegmund's Bridge. They will then tell him that the problems at the Coronata Vineyard have been taken care of. The clerk will be satisfied and the auction will proceed. Liam then wins the Belgaard Vineyard but Matilda will be crushed and no longer show up at the Belgaard Vineyard. Players will be awarded 100 experience points and whatever amount they managed to negotiate with Liam prior to clearing the vineyard of problems. The quest will be completed after a cutscene.
