A new patch is coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, possibly as soon as next week. It comes shortly after the next-gen update arrived for The Witcher 3, offering native versions for new consoles and a variety of additional content.Despite reports of technical issues on PC, the long-awaited next-gen update was generally well-received, driving a surge of interest and players to The Witcher 3. Many believed that CD Projekt Red had gone above and beyond for the free patch, which included not only the obligatory performance and ray-tracing options but an alternative way to cast Signs, an additional camera angle, and a brand-new quest inspired by the Netflix show.RELATED: Hilarious The Witcher 3 Clip Shows Boss Being Beaten Without a FightA tweet from the official Witcher Twitter account provided a breakdown of all the features that fans could expect in the newly released boxed copies, packaged as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition. With the recent improvements, both expansions, and all DLC, the physical release is a great option for anyone still yet to play through the conclusion to Geralt's journey but be warned that features may be locked behind different versions. For example, last-gen consoles are not able to pause gameplay during cutscenes and have not received a photo mode, unlike on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

The tweet concludes with an additional message that reads "keep your eyes peeled for a new patch - coming very soon!" When asked for a more exact time frame, Global Community Director for CD Projekt Red, Marcin Momot, responded "definitely not this week," but followed up "hopefully [next week] but still pending confirmation." There is no news at the time of writing regarding the specifics of this patch, but players should not hope for much more than bug, quest, and performance fixes. It will be the first patch for The Witcher 3 since hotfixes dedicated to improving PC stability were released last month.

CD Projekt Red is still at work on bringing some of the added content to the Nintendo Switch, which was confirmed to still be releasing at a later yet unannounced date. Beyond The Witcher 3, fans have plenty to look forward to since the announcement of an entire new Witcher saga, and a remake of the existing trilogy's first installment. Although an expansion and sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 are likely to release before any of those projects, it is good to know Witcher fans are set to be well served in the future.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
