The world of The Witcher 3 is a dark one with dark, destruction and, injustice abundant everywhere players may go. Innocents are trampled on by those in power and save for only a select few, including Geralt himself, who would benefit those around them. In The Witcher 3, the main villains are well known among the player community.RELATED: Witcher 3: Most Evil Characters, RankedCharacters such as the King of the Wild Hunt Eredin, or Nilfgaard's Emperor Emhyr, the Redanian King Radovid and, Gaunter O'Dimm are some of the obvious evil characters from the game that most players will have no trouble remembering. However, there are some other equally evil, if not more, characters that are lesser-known but deserve the same level of recognition.

7 The Pellar's Father

Players will encounter The Pellar's Father during the side quest "Forefather's Eve", which begins after Keira Metz's quest, "A Towerful Of Mice", and when the quest "Family Matters" is halfway completed. The Pellar will approach Geralt asking for help during the ceremony and will ask to meet him at the location at midnight. Halfway through the ceremony, the ghost of The Pellar's Father will appear and call The Pellar a patricide.

After the ceremony players can talk to the Pellar who will reveal that his father was an extremely abusive person who treated his family badly. One day the Pellar had had enough and buried an axe in his father's skull, dumping the body in the swamp. However, the body remained well preserved which is why the ghost is tied to the world of the living. Players can burn the body to make the ghost move on to the next life finally leaving The Pellar at peace.

6 Ignatius Verriers

Ignatius was the ruler of White Orchard prior to the arrival of the Nilfgaardians during the Third Northern War. He was known to be an especially cruel lord that caused his people grief for as long as he ruled. He bullied his son, Fabian, for his romantic choices until he committed suicide and also banished his boyfriend who the players can meet in the game.

He also developed a fiery temper due to his alcoholism. Ignatius once killed a man simply because he took off his hat too slowly. Moreover, he trampled over his subjects' fields destroying their crops while giving them no compensation in return.

When his people received permission from Vizima, the then capital of the existing Temerian Kingdom, to relocate to a new area, he chased after them and burnt the new settlement down purely out of spite. However, justice was served after the Nilfgaardians marched into Temeria as they detained Ignatius and promptly hung the former lord.

5 The Cannibals From Without A Trace Side Quest

Players will encounter a pair of cannibals during the side-quest "Without A Trace". The quest is a part of the Hearts of Stone DLC and players will not be able to play it if they haven't got the DLC installed. The cannibals are only discovered if players discover the smell of rotting meat and follow it to the hideout where they will find the half-eaten body of a halfling. Otherwise, the quest will update prompting players to return to the herbalist believing the apprentice was eaten by wolves.

Although, if players investigate the body, it is unclear if he was butchered by the pair in the first place or found half-eaten in the forest and then scavenged by the pair of cannibals. Players will have the chance to kill or spare them as the game gives no clear indication of whether the elderly couple is telling the truth. However, in some instances when players decide to kill them, the woman will taunt Geralt that she will chop him up and cook him in a stew.

4 Ginter De Lavirac

Ginter de Lavirac is a unique Fisstech dealer encountered randomly throughout Novigrad city where he will be harassed by a group of bandits. What sets him apart is that Ginter has no financial incentive to partake in the drug trade. In fact, he belongs to a rich, well-off family.

He actively decided to get into the drug trade and deal Fisstech to wealthy individuals, effectively destroying their lives by giving them one of the most addictive drugs in The Witcher world. Players can choose to help him when they meet him and afterward he'll ask them to accompany him to a meeting with his dealer. If players decline, the bandits will eliminate Ginter and The Witcher world will have one less drug dealer.

3 The Grossbart Brothers

The Grossbart Brothers are a trio of vile brothers found on Skellige that have engaged in copious amounts of murder, pillaging, and other criminal activity. The Skellige isles are generally filled with pirates that engage in such activities but the Brothers' crimes were so severe that they attracted the attention of a famous bounty hunter named Djenge Frett.

During the course of the game, Geralt will meet the bounty hunter himself and if he so chooses, can aid him in his hunt for the brothers ridding the world of yet another menace that will not be missed.

2 Hierarch Hemmelfart

Hierarch Hemmelfart is the leader of the Church of Eternal Fire and is mentioned several times as a secondary character, especially during the Novigrad segment of the game. He makes an appearance at Kaer Morhen when the witchers, who have had too much to drink, accidentally contact him via a megascope belonging to the sorceress Yennefer. He is also sometimes seen as an attendee at Whoreson Junior's underground arena.

Hemmelfart is a known racist and is responsible for most of the misery that Geralt witnesses in and around Novigrad. He promotes witch hunts against magic users and non-humans during which many innocent people have been burnt alive at the stake. He also has had shady dealing with Novigrad's criminal underworld, particularly Whoreson Junior.

1 Morkvarg

Morkvarg is a werewolf that is encountered during the side-quest "In Wolf's Clothing" which is triggered during the main quest "Nameless". He is cursed to exist in werewolf form where he suffers from extreme hunger that no food or drink can satisfy as it turns to ash in his mouth. Before being cursed, he used to be an especially cruel and vile pirate that was infamous for his murder and pillaging spree that no one could seemingly stop.

He was said to fear nothing other than the Wrath of the Gods. To remedy this problem, he and his crew sailed to Freya's Garden where they assaulted the priestesses and desecrated the area. Disgusted at what he and his crew had done, one of Morkvarg's own crewmen cursed him causing the pirate to transform into a werewolf.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released on May 18, 2015, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
