When one talks about some of the greatest games ever made in the modern era, it goes without saying that The Witcher 3 would be an integral part of this conversation. CD Projekt Red put in their heart and soul into this title, and this shows in every aspect of this incredibly polished title that was a blast to play through from start to end.

In fact, The Witcher 3 was so full to the brim with content that there are a ton of encounters in the game that most people would've missed outright! Keeping this in mind, here are some of the rarest encounters that most people didn't even know of in The Witcher 3.

10 Sarah If She's Evicted From The Mansion

Sarah the Godling in The Witcher 3

During his quest to find Ciri, Geralt encounters an Oneiromancer called Corinne who is being unwittingly plagued by nightmares from a harmless godling. After telling the godling — named Sarah — to stop making Corinne see these dreams, Geralt has the option of letting Sarah stay or forcing her to leave.

Most players won't really opt for the latter option... but if they do, then the player will find out that Sarah ended up befriending Johnny once they encounter the pair at Bald Mountain!

9 Meeting Dora Again After Saving Her From Ruffians

Dora in The Witcher 3

The quest Rough Neighborhood features a character named Dora who can be saved from a bunch of mercenaries in Oxenfurt who are giving her a hard time at night. After punching the ever-living snot out of these hooligans, the player can walk Dora back to her place.

Most people would think that the quest ends here, but players can actually meet this mercenary band near Dora's house after some time. This group ends up ambushing Geralt with lethal intentions, and players who defend themselves will find a welcome presence aiding their efforts... in the form of Dora herself!

8 Encountering Remi Villeroy

The outer walls of Novigrad hide another encounter that players can miss if they're hurrying around without stopping to check out the commotion caused by two Witch Hunters who are trying to arrest and execute a mage.

Interfering and killing these Witch Hunters causes the mage, Remi Villeroy, to give his heartfelt thanks before evacuating from the area.

7 Saving Moritz From Being Burned Alive

During the masquerade ball at the Vegelbud Residence, Triss and Geralt encounter another mage by the name of Moritz who is peeved at the fact that Triss is leading the movement to save the mages from the witch hunt in Novigrad. As a result of this jealousy, Moritz ends up refusing to join this movement.

Players can find this character burning at the pyre later on near the Glory Gate. However, what most people might not've known is that they can cast Aard to extinguish the pyre and save him!

6 An Elevator In Kaer Trolde

Elevator in Kaer Trolde in The Witcher 3

While this might easily be the least eventful encounter on this list, the fact that a simple elevator in the game was found a whopping five years after the title was released is a genuine achievement for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the wealth of secrets it holds!

This elevator is found in Kaer Trolde, just north of the inn towards the bridge. Keep in mind to not stay under said elevator when it's coming down, unless the player wants to be on the receiving end of one of the dumber game overs in their playthrough.

5 Talking To Cerys After Her Argument With Hjalmar

Cerys an Craite The Witcher 3

During the coronation feast in Skellige, the siblings Cerys and Hjalmar end up having an argument that leads to the former storming out of the feast.

While most players would obviously not pay any attention to Cerys' whereabouts and speak to other characters at the feast, players who actually follow Cerys outside will be able to trigger a unique conversation that features a rather rare moment of Cerys showing vulnerability — something that she doesn't really show otherwise throughout the questline.

4 Finding Birna Bran On The Rocks

After finding Birna Bran guilty of the sabotage at the an Craite stronghold, she is served a fitting punishment of being chained to a rock until she eventually died of either thirst, starvation, or the crows who pecked at her body.

Post these events, the player can actually head to an island south of Sund, where — true to the nature of her punishment — Birna Bran's dead body can be found tied to a rock.

3 The Ghost Ship In Skellige

A rather rare and spooky encounter for anyone who wasn't expecting the same, roaming around the seas of Skellige at 1 in the night will lead to players witnessing a ghost ship in the background.

This ship doesn't really stay for that long, before submerging into the ocean for the remainder of the day. It's a cool inclusion in the world of The Witcher 3 that most people don't have a clue about!

2 Finding The Body Of Someone Who Drinks And Knows Things

Tyrion in The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 was released around a time when another fantasy series was in full swing — Game of Thrones. Before this show imploded with its last season, people actually appreciated the more iconic moments in the series... including the imprisonment of an iconic character in a rather unsafe prison.

The dungeons of the Eyrie featured sky cells where Tyrion was being held after being captured by Lysa Arryn. The sky cells are named such since they're completely open with a deadly drop being the only way to escape these iconic cells. This moment was referenced in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, where players can find an open cell in one of the Skellige isles that look just like the sky cells, along with a small corpse that looks eerily similar to Tyrion Lannister.

1 Finding Letho In A Supposedly Haunted Manor

Letho In The Witcher 3

Most players obviously ended up killing Letho by the end of The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings — after all, who would say no to a climactic boss fight with the main villain near the end of the game?

However, if the player decided to let Letho go — or chose that option when prompted near the start of The Witcher 3, at least — can actually find this character during the quest The Fall of the House of Reardon. It's a great moment that allows two Witchers to catch up. If the player decides to help Letho as well, then he can even be a fighting ally during the Battle of Kaer Morhen!
