It may have been six years since the release of The Witcher 3, but many players are still enjoying CD Projekt RED's landmark RPG. Stepping into the boots of Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher 3 boasts a sprawling fantasy adventure set in a gritty world of schemers, assassins, and monsters.
To survive, players must outfit Geralt in the best gear they can get. One of the most powerful armor sets in The Witcher 3 is the Wolven School Gear, which was added in a free DLC within the first few months of release. Geralt belongs to the School of the Wolf, making the hunt for its gear especially relevant.
Witcher 3 Wolf Gear Diagrams
The first thing players will need to do when searching for the Wolf Gear in Witcher 3 is to find one of the notes that begins the Scavenger Hunt quest. They're all written by Hieronymus on the Witcher Elgar, and can be bought from the following vendors:
- Eibhear Hattori in Novigrad
- Lindenvale's blacksmith
- Kaer Trolde's armorer
- Hierarch Square in Novigrad's armorer
Reading the notes will begin the Scavenger Hunt quest, and direct players toward Kaer Morhen.
The Steel Sword Diagram can be found in the Bastion, a little way to the west of Kaer Morhen castle itself. After defeating a handful of wraiths, players will be able to find the Steel Sword diagram along with Varin's journal in the burned remains of the building. The Silver Sword Diagram can be found in the Ruined Watchtower at the northern end of the valley. Again, players will have to defeat wraiths before they can claim the diagram from a nearby skeleton.
The Full Wolven Armor
Unlike the Wolven Steel and Silver sword diagrams, the Wolven Armor Diagrams in The Witcher 3 are all found in the same place. To get them, players should head toward the old signal tower, an unmarked location that is just south of the gates of Kaer Morhen. Players should climb the scaffolding to find Hieronymus' notes, as well as a nearby portal mechanism.
To activate the portal, players will next need to find the Polished Crystal, which is also in the old signal tower. To find it, head back into the tower, but instead of going through the exit, go through the crack to its right. Climb onto the scaffolding at the end, and look up to see the crystal on a ledge. Placing the crystal in the portal mechanism will allow Geralt to activate the portal by using Aard on its two halves.
Once the portal is activated, Geralt will be able to jump through to a cave. Another wraith will spawn for players to dispatch, after which they can loot the diagrams for the Wolven Armor, Boots, Gauntlets, and Trousers.
The Witcher 3 is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Next-gen ports are due later this year.
