A recent video shows The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt running on an Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card with a load of mods, which results in spectacular footage of this already pretty stunning game. With CD Project Red recently confirming a new Witcher saga, the epic RPG series is once again the talk of the town for many fans. Not much is known about what the developer has planned going forward, but the previous installments, especially the third entry, are beloved. So no doubt many are excited about what's coming.
Alongside the new games, there's also been a leak which suggests when The Witcher 3 will be coming to current gen systems, with the rumor stating that the modern port could be arriving on December 9, 2022. The 2015 release is considered by many to be one of the greatest Western role-playing titles ever, with its immense world building and overall narrative. It's also pretty to look at, even after several years, but modders are keen to show that even gorgeous video games can always look a little better.
That's what the YouTube channel Digital Dreams has demonstrated. A video that lasts just over 9:30 minutes shows The Witcher 3 running at 8K with more than 100 mods installed, including a reshader. The fact that it's also utilizing the RTX 4090, Nvidia's new Ada Lovelace GPU tech, is just the icing on the cake. The visual boost, possibly combined with the newer hardware, means the results are pretty spectacular. The footage shows a variety of landscapes to really give viewers an idea of just how beautiful the game can look, thanks largely to the dedicated modding community.
Nvidia revealed its RTX 4090 in September, with the graphics card coming out very recently. This represents the next generation of graphical hardware, with rival AMD hot on its tail with its RDNA 3 architecture that's scheduled to arrive in December. How much of a difference the RTX 4090 makes to the video cannot be said at this stage, but there's no denying that it looks pretty outstanding, though much of the work is likely being done by the 100+ mods.
Digital Dreams frequently puts out content showing just how games can be improved visually, such as the video that shows Fallout 4 running with over 300 mods or the one that demonstrates 8K graphics in Red Dead Redemption 2. To many gamers, graphical fidelity is not always the most important thing, but such footage shows that there are many ways to make video games look even prettier for those who are interested.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions expected to launch later this year.
