The new monster-hunting action adventure from Electronic Arts and Omega Force, Wild Hearts, seems to be running poorly on Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S consoles, according to some of the game's early adopters. While seeing Series S consoles struggle with cutting-edge titles isn't necessarily out of the ordinary, this game's performance issues are seemingly worse than most would've anticipated.A veritable Monster Hunter competitor, Wild Hearts was announced out of the blue as the first major collaboration between EA and Koei Tecmo, with Omega Force heading its development. Omega Force is best known for its Dynasty Warriors, Toukiden, and Persona 5 Strikers releases, as well as a wealth of licensed Warriors-themed entries, such as Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem WarriorsRELATED: Wild Hearts Gameplay Shows 3 Weapons Players Can use in the GameWhile Wild Hearts was planned for last-gen consoles during the initial stages of its development, it would seem that it was a good idea to forego them entirely after all. Xbox Series S gamers have begun reporting on the game's apparently shoddy performance and poor visuals already. Not only are graphical assets bad enough that people wonder if something is wrong with the game, but Series S is also only able to run Wild Heart at 30 FPS, with the resolution jumping from 900p to 1080p, depending on the scene. In other words, something is amiss.

It's worth pointing out that the general reception to the game appears to be mostly positive, with players praising Wild Hearts' building features and traversal options. Some of its most notable gameplay features were shown off in the new Wild Hearts CG trailer, but the fact of the matter is that Xbox players seem to be hard-pressed to enjoy the game's novelties with how poorly it's been performing.

The silver lining is that Wild Hearts has a 10-hour free trial available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, making it possible to test out virtually every aspect of the game's performance before splurging on it. Priced at $69.99, Wild Hearts is a full-priced AAA title that's been produced as a joint effort between two massive game production houses.

While it does seem that EA influenced the development of Wild Hearts to a substantial level, the game seems to play better than it looks on all the platforms it's launched on. The issues with Xbox Series S, in particular, stem from the console's lower-end hardware, which exacerbates them further still. Omega Force is yet to provide any information on whether something is bugged with the game, or if this is just the reality of the game running on Series S hardware.

Wild Hearts releases on February 16 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
