Wild Hearts, like many of today's games, has an extensive upgrade path for each of its weapons. As players make their way through Wild Hearts' familiar tree diagram, they will likely ask themselves a common question: where are these upgrade materials that are needed to create this amazing weapon? The routine that follows is almost always the same: come across a boss or enemy that seems impossible to beat, run in circles looking for materials to upgrade gear, then freak out - when they probably should just push forward in the story.

This will be the case with many players with the lightstone and mirrorstone upgrade materials in Wild Hearts. Due to the fact that they are completely locked behind story progression, these materials will only become possible to find once the player reaches Chapter 2 of Wild Hearts' main story.

Where to Find Mirrorstones in Wild Hearts

Wild-Hearts-Earthshaker

Players will likely first become aware of mirrorstones when they are looking through the upgrade requirements for several of Wild Hearts' weapons. They are basic requirements for mid-tier enhancements, though players will not find them during their early travels through Azuma.

Wild-Hearts-Akikure-Canyon-Map

Players will need to wait until they have reached Chapter 2, which follows the battle with the Earthbreaker kemono. Not long after this is complete, the main story will send the hunter to Wild Hearts' third main region: Akikure Canyon. Mirrorstones can be found lining the rock walls and cliff faces, similar to bluestones on Natsukodachi Isle. They can be identified by their yellow crystal core surrounded by a darker rock.

Wild-Hearts-Mirrorstone-1

Mirrorstones are not particularly difficult to find, though players will have to search through the region to acquire them in significant numbers. It simply comes down to waiting until the story has progressed far enough into Chapter 2. Even the most basic exploration should result in a good number of mirrorstones being found.

Where to Find Lightstones in Wild Hearts

Wild-Hearts-Ujishige-1

Just like mirrorstones, lightstones are locked behind story progression. As long as players stick to the main missions, they will reach the point where Ujishige begins to speak of Fuyufusagi Fort. Players will first accompany the aging samurai to Natsukodachi Isle, only to discover a Deathstalker, one of Wild Hearts' deadliest kemonos, has caused the island's previously temperate climate to freeze. This will lead directly to the events that open Fuyufusagi Fort to the player.

It is in the Fuyufusagi Fort region that players will find lightstones. This rare material is the region's unique upgrade stone, just as mirrorstones are found in Akikure Canyon.

These stones are also found at the base of rocky cliffs and ledges, often partially obscured by snow. The core is a dark orange hue, similar to amber, surrounded by a darker stone material. Players looking to acquire several lightstones will find themselves with an abundance simply by exploring the region.

Wild Hearts is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
