Like many of its counterparts in the 'hunter' genre, Wild Hearts features a wide variety of weapons and armor for players to use in their hunt for Kemono. The list of available items is as long as it is diverse. For each unique monster that the player hunts, there are several pieces of equipment that can be crafted with their parts.

Serpent Slough is just one of many important upgrade materials available to players in Wild Hearts. However, this upgrade material does not come from the large Kemono the player hunts, but instead from a much smaller animal that is a lot harder to find. Because of this, the player will have to follow a specific set of instructions to successfully acquire Serpent Slough.

How to Get Serpent Slough in Wild Hearts

Wild-Hearts-Serpent-4

On the surface, the task of acquiring serpent slough may seem easy. It simply requires the player to head to Natsukodachi Isle - also called The Spirit Isle - and kill a Whipthrash Serpent. These small Kemono are only found on the isle, and usually in small numbers. Once hunted and 'finished,' these beasts will award the player with Serpent Slough. While this may seem easy enough, there is a catch that players will need to consider when preparing to complete this task for themselves.

While making their way through Wild Hearts' multi-chapter story, players will notice that, as the chapters progress, the same animal may provide different materials at different times. A small Kemono killed in Chapter 1 will sometimes give a different item than the same small Kemono killed in Chapter 4. This is the case with the Whipthrash Serpent.

To ensure that the player receives Serpent Slough when killing the Whipthrash Serpent, they must make sure to select Chapter 1 or 2 within the map system before traveling to the Spirit Isle. This is because, from Chapter 3 onward, the Whipthrash Serpent will no longer give Serpent Slough.

It is important to remember that the Whipthrash Serpent's only habitat is Natsukodachi Isle. It is possible that they may be available in other areas after a future update, but at the time of writing, they are confined to the Spirit Isle.

Using the 'Small Kemono' Filter

The best way to determine where to find Whipthrash Serpents is to use the 'Small Kemono' filter on the detailed map. This will place a small gray dot to mark the location of every small Kemono. Players can then hover over the dot to see the specific type.

With the serpent slough in hand, players can go to Natsume and craft a fresh set of Wild Hearts' armor and weapons.

Wild Hearts is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
