JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is filled with incredible people and powers. From Hamon to Stand users, every protagonist has insane abilities, but how do they compare to each other? Are some protagonists more powerful than others? The best place to start is Jonathan Joestar. The first JoJo was introduced in part one. Set in the 1880s, Jonathan Joestar is the son of a wealthy Englishmen, George Joestar. Growing up, Jonathan was never the perfect gentleman, something his rival and adoptive brother Dio Brando used to his advantage.

The hatred the two had for one another caused a significant feud that took the lives of many innocents, but Jonathan was able to stop Dio for a time. With his mentor Baron Zeppeli, Jonathan was able to learn Hamon. This technique requires complete control of one's breathing to attack with sunlight energy. The combination of this ability and Jonathan's overwhelming size allowed him to stop Dio, but in the end, it did cost him his life.

Parts 2-4

Joseph Joestar in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

The last Hamon user in the JoJo universe was Joseph Joestar, the grandson of Jonathan Joestar. In his debut, Battle Tendency, Joseph is a cocky 18-year-old with a natural ability for Hamon, but needs training to properly harness his latent potential. Joseph had to fight ancient vampires and the Ultimate Being, unlike his grandfather, who only had Dio to deal with. Somehow he survives all of this, at the cost of losing a hand, and continues to contribute to the narrative long after his time in the sun is over. In part three, he serves as Jotaro's mentor alongside his stand; Hermit Purple. Hermit Purple is a reasonably weak stand, having the ability to do spirit photography. His stand can also conduct Hamon, making it deadly to the undead. Joseph does appear briefly in part four, but his character doesn't do much.

Jotaro Kujo is the protagonist of part three. With the return of DIO, all the living Joestars receive a stand because of DIO using Jonathan's body. At first, it appears that Jotaro's stand is all muscle and doesn't have any special powers like other stands. Star Platinum's speed and power are unmatched, but during the final battle with DIO, Jotaro discovers that Star Platnium can stop time. This ability, identical to DIO's stand, The World, made for an even fight, and in the end, Jotaro defeats DIO.

The protagonist in part four, Josuke Higashikata, is the illegitimate son of Joseph. With the help of his friends and stand, Crazy Diamond, Josuke fights against the serial killer Kira. Unlike previous protagonists, Crazy Diamond's ability focuses on restoring objects to their previous form. This includes organic matter as well. Josuke serves as both a healer and a fighter throughout Part 4, providing him and his allies with some much-needed versatility. By actively destroying something and restoring it, Josuke could creatively defeat whatever enemies came his way.

Part 5 and 6

Featured Giorno in part 6 Jolyne

In part five, the story follows Giorno Giovanna, the son of DIO. Giorno's stand goes through two stages during his journey; the first is Gold Experience, which can create and manipulate life. Throughout the show, fans watch as Giorno turns ordinary buttons or rocks in plants and animals, which will return to him. The second rendition of his stand is Gold Experience Requiem. After stabbing his stand with the Stand Arrow, giving his stand the ability to put people he kills into a death loop.

Jolyne receives her stand after her father, Jotaro, sends her a piece of the Stand Arrow. After stabbing herself with it accidentally, Jolyne's stand, Stone Free appears. Stone Free is similar to Star Platnium with its speed and strength with close combat, but Stone Free also has ranged attacks. Stone Free allows Jolyne to unravel herself like a string, invisible to non-stand users. Jolyne controls this string and utilizes it creatively throughout the many battles she faces within Green Dolphin Street Prison.

Who's the Strongest?

JJBA Jonathan Joestar In Phantom Blood

This isn't an easy question because each protagonist has their own strengths and weaknesses. In terms of power, Jotaro beats out most of them, but fans are made aware that after part three, Jotaro didn't use Star Platnium as frequently, so his powers lessened as a result.

In terms of abilities, Josuke and Giorno would win hands down. Both have mastered the ability to heal and attack with their stand's powers. Some fans might argue that Giorno is more powerful because his stand is now Requiem, which is true. Still, when killing Diavolo, Gold Experience mentions that Giorno will never fully understand its power. So while he has this ability, it's suggested that Giorno might never be able to use it to its full capability.

Then some use their powers in ingenious ways. Both Joseph and Jolyne have weaker stands, but they use their abilities in amazing ways to help stand out. Joseph uses Hermit Purple to conduct Hamon and get himself out of difficult situations. He even willingly cut himself to find the invisible baby in Part 4, something Josuke couldn't think of. Jolyne on the other hand will unravel different parts of her body to listen in on conversations, grab needed items, and anything else that might better help her navigate the dangers of Green Dolphin Street Prison.

There is another final Joestar that hasn't been mentioned yet, that's Jonathan. Now, Jonatha never had a stand of his own, but because Dio stole his body, some fans believe that The World would have been his stand. It explains why Jotaro has a similar stand. In addition to this, Jonathan was the only protagonist who sympathized with his enemy in the end. He knew that Dio went through a lot in his life, and when it came time to end him, he stayed with him because Dio was like a brother to him, even if he tried to kill him. That ability to empathize and forgive is the most powerful thing.
