Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree adds many new spells for players of all builds to use. These sorceries range greatly from those in the base game, giving sorcery-using players more options in battle with the additional options to the already large list of powerful sorceries in Elden Ring.

One of these new sorceries players can find and use is the Mantle of Thorns . This is a defensive spell that lets players damage enemies that get too close to them.

Where To Get Mantle Of Thorns In Shadow Of The Erdtree

The Mantle of Thorns is found in the chapel section of the Shadow Keep, found on the way to the Shadow Keep Back Gate. While part of the Shadow Keep, players will actually need to approach the dungeon from the east to get access to the chapel. Players will need to head to the Moorth Ruins to find the underground tunnel that leads to the Bonny Village. Going through this village and following the main road north will lead players to the side entrance of the Shadow Keep.

Upon a first visit, this area will be flooded with water, and players will only be able to jump from rooftop to rooftop in order to reach the far back corner of the area and drain the water. Once drained, players will see a dead tree in the center of the area. Southwest of the tree will be a Site of Grace to rest at, and players should do so before approaching the tree.

When players approach the tree, a Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirit will appear out of the ground and attack the player. This enemy is weak to fire damage which can be used to help with its huge health bar. If you don't have access to fire damage, stick to physical attacks as it has a resistance to all other forms of electrical damage. Defeating the Tree Spirit will have it drop the Mantle of Thorns .

How Good Is Mantle Of Thorns In Shadow Of The Erdtree

The Mantle Of Thorns Spell In The Inventory

Mantle of Thorns covers the player in thorns that damage enemies that touch the player. The damage done by these thorns is not very high, and overall, this isn't a very effective spell to spend a memory slot and FP on. Most sorceries are ideally used from a distance, with players dodging away from enemies whenever they get too close. This leads to fewer hits from the Mantle of Thorns in ideal combat, and very little damage overall from the spell. Despite being a sorcery, this spell also requires Faith instead of Intelligence, making it difficult to use for most sorcery-focused builds.
