Since its humble beginnings in 1999, Star Wars Celebration has been the hub of all major Star Wars announcements. From movie trailers, to TV featurettes, to video game reveals, and everything in between, this Star Wars convention is essentially a franchise-specific E3. For those who can't attend the three-day event in-person, most of the big panels are usually live-streamed.

This year, Star Wars Celebration runs from May 26 to May 29, once again taking place in Anaheim. With the last convention being canceled due to the pandemic, and a whole plethora of confirmed Star Wars projects in the works, fan anticipation for this year's gathering is at an all-time high. Amongst trailers for The Mandalorian Season 3, Ahsoka, and Andor, fans might receive a handful of Star Wars video game trailers and reveals.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 Will Be Revealed

star wars jedi fallen order 2 should explore the path to the dark side

By far the most likely video game reveal fans might see at Star Wars Celebration 2022 is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2. Since the first game released three years ago, and work began on the sequel soon after, it seems likely that fans will get to see Jedi Fallen Order 2 in some respect.

The most likely scenario is that Jedi Fallen Order 2 will be officially revealed, and a brief trailer will be shown off. As to what this trailer will entail, everything's pretty much up in the air right now, with no official details being confirmed yet. However, it does seem probable that a trailer would showcase a slightly older Cal Kestis, still with the Mantis crew, still laying low from the Empire's forces while engaging in even more planet-hopping Metroidvania, Soulslike action.

According to some industry insiders, EA and Respawn are targeting a late 2022 or early 2023 release for the Jedi Fallen Order sequel, which if true, would make a soon-upcoming reveal a certainty, as EA would need to start its marketing push well in advance. Similarly, the recent confirmation that the sequel is in fact in the works would seem to suggest that Jedi Fallen Order 2 is the next Star Wars video game project in the lineup, making it very likely to appear at Star Wars Celebration 2022.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Could Get a Trailer

Another likely contender to appear at Star Wars Celebration 2022 is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. Aspyr's upcoming remake of one of the most widely beloved Star Wars games was revealed in September 2021, well over 7 months ago. With the announcement trailer only showcasing Revan's purple lightsaber igniting, it's impossible to determine how far along the project is in development.

According to some rumors, Aspyr is targeting a 2023 release for KOTOR. If this is true, then much like a Jedi Fallen Order sequel, it would seem likely that a trailer could be shown off at Star Wars Celebration 2022. Right now, it's still unconfirmed just how much Aspyr is changing about the original, though some sources have reported that combat is being remade from the ground up, along with some other gameplay mechanics and visuals.

If these reports are true, then it may be some time before fans see Knights of the Old Republic Remake in action. Looking at Final Fantasy 7 Remake as a comparison, that project was first announced in 2015, but didn't release until April 2020, and is releasing in multiple parts due to the sheer scale of the project.

If Aspyr is planning on creating a similar experience for its Knights of the Old Republic Remake, then a similar time frame may be on the cards, which would make a gameplay trailer unlikely to appear at Star Wars Celebration 2022. Alternatively, a brief in-game engine trailer could be shown, showcasing a few of the game's planets and environments, and maybe some shiny new character models, satiating fans' anticipation while keeping details on the project sparse.

Other Star Wars Projects That Could Be Revealed

Star Wars Eclipse Cinematic Lightsabers

While Jedi Fallen Order 2 and Knights of the Old Republic Remake are the most likely Star Wars video game projects to be shown off at Star Wars Celebration 2022, there are a few projects that could be given brief teasers or mentions during the convention. Though, it should be noted that this is all pure speculation at this stage.

While Star Wars: Eclipse, Quantic Dream's narrative-driven adventure, was announced at the end of last year during the Game Awards, some reports quickly suggested that the game is nowhere near completion. Some industry insiders have even claimed that the game won't end up releasing until 2027. Regardless of its eventual release date, it seems very unlikely that fans will get to see Star Wars: Eclipse any time soon.

Similarly, Amy Hennig and Skydance New Media's Star Wars game also probably won't make an appearance at Star Wars Celebration, having only been announced about a week or two ago. On the other hand, Ubisoft's open-world Star Wars game seems like a likely contender to get a brief mention or official announcement, as that game was announced in January 2021.

Along with Jedi Fallen Order 2, Respawn is also working on a new Star Wars first-person shooter. This is another unlikely candidate to appear at Star Wars Celebration as this was only confirmed to be in development a few months ago, in January 2022. At the same time, EA announced a new Star Wars strategy game, coming from some devs that have previously worked on the XCOM series. The official announcement from EA regarding these games very clearly stated that they wouldn't be ready for quite some time, so they also aren't too likely to show up at this year's Star Wars Celebration.
