Each character in Genshin Impact has its own playstyle. There are characters that simply rely on basic attacks, while some others have complex mechanics. Among the many combat mechanics in Genshin Impact, Battery characters have been highly crucial in players' gameplay. Without a Battery, some units will find themselves unable to fulfill their maximum potential.

While the term “Battery” is often tossed around in the community, it's not actually an official term. So if players would like to understand what a Genshin Impact Battery is, this article will provide what they need to know.

What Is Energy In Genshin Impact?

Energy in Genshin Impact is a value needed for a character to use their Elemental Burst. This value differs for every character, where the lowest requirement is 40 Energy and the highest is 90.

Elemental Burst, also often called the Ultimate, usually offers a powerful ability that can turn the tide of the battle. Because it's a very important aspect of the game, players should ensure they can constantly fill their characters' Elemental Burst. For this job, people can use units that are often referred to as a Battery.

A Battery in Genshin Impact are characters that can produce enough Energy to fill their and their teammates' Elemental Burst. This can be crucial for units that can't function without their Burst. For example, Arataki Itto should only be dealing damage when his Ultimate is active. Since he can't do this alone, Itto's team should include Battery characters like the Geo Traveler.

When it comes to Batteries in Genshin Impact, players will mostly come across Elemental Particles Battery. But other than that, there are also Batteries that offer Flat Energy Restoration.

Elemental Particles Battery

Elemental Particles Battery in Genshin Impact are characters that can generate a lot of Elemental Particles. By picking up these particles, the entire party will generate a certain amount of Energy. There are a few things to note for this Energy regeneration method:

  • A character will generate particles according to their Vision. For example, a Geo character will generate Geo particles.
  • The active Geo character will recover three Energy for each particle.
  • The inactive Geo character will gain 1.8 Energy.
  • An active non-Geo character will only gain one Energy.
  • An inactive non-Geo character will recover 0.6 Energy.
  • Each of these values will be multiplied according to each character’s Energy Recharge. So if a character is supposed to get one Energy and they have 200% Energy Recharge, they will gain two Energy instead.

Because same-Element particles generate more Energy, Travelers should use a Battery with the same Vision as the character they want to recharge the Burst of.

For example, to Battery Xiao, the best units would be Anemo characters like Sucrose. Meanwhile, for Genshin Impact Arataki Itto, players should use a Geo character like the Traveler.

The idea behind Elemental Particles Battery is that Elemental Particles only grant Energy once they are absorbed by the players. Because there will be a slight delay between the cast and the absorption, Travelers can swap out the Battery right after casting their Skill. For instance, after Sucrose uses her Skill, Genshin Impact Xiao should immediately take the field to absorb the generated Anemo particles.

Flat Energy Restoration Battery

The second Battery type in Genshin Impact is the Flat Energy Restoration Battery. Unlike the previous type, Travelers don't have to worry about the Vision of these Batteries. This is because the characters have a fixed amount of Energy they'll grant to their party. This value is not affected by Elements or Energy Recharge.

For example, if Genshin Impact Venti absorbs an Element (Pyro, Cryo, Electro, or Hydro) with his Burst, the Archon will grant a fixed 15 Energy to the characters of the absorbed Element. Other notable Flat Energy Battery includes Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara, and Electro Traveler.

Battery Weapons

Lastly, to assist in generating Energy, players can equip their Battery characters with Battery weapons in Genshin Impact. The most common method is by using Favonius and Sacrificial weapons:

Note: R5 = Refinement Rank 5

  • Favonius series: Crit hits have a 60% (100% on R5) chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s (6s on R5).
  • Sacrificial series: After dealing damage to an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 40% (80% on R5) chance to end its own CD. Can only occur once every 30s (16s on R5).

Note that Favonius weapons generate Elemental Particles and are not a Flat Energy Restoration . This means players can amplify the restoration effect by stacking up Energy Recharge in Genshin Impact . The generated particles are non-Elemental, so Travelers don't have to worry about the wielder's Element.

Meanwhile, Sacrificial weapons simply allow a character to use their skill twice in a row, doubling the Elemental Particles they generate.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
