When gamers think of a gaming company with a robust roster of original characters, Nintendo probably is the first to come to mind. Others would probably mention Capcom or SEGA. But original characters from the PlayStation ecosystem also deserve a shout

For the past 25 years, they have been building up a diverse group of original characters that are slowly catching up to others in both legacy and popularity among gamers. Characters such as Nathan Drake and Kratos are one of the many faces representing the PlayStation brand. Because of their popularity and frequent collaborations within the industry, there are some odd but interesting cameos that feature various PlayStation characters.

7 Sackboy In Minecraft

Sackboy is the main protagonist of the LittleBigPlanet series. He is a humanoid doll that players can customize to their liking. A large part of the LittleBigPlanet games is the ability to create and customize, so it is no surprise that Sackboy and other LittleBigPlanet-related media is available as DLC for PlayStation versions of Minecraft.

Not only can players play as Sackboy, but the DLC also turns the mobs of the game into looking like him.

6 Kratos In Shovel Knight

Kratos In Shovel Knight

One of the more, if not most popular PlayStation characters is Kratos from the God of War series. Kratos is a Spartan warrior who ravages the Ancient Greece landscape to avenge his family due to some trickery of the gods. He later wound up in the Scandinavian area. As one of the faces of the console, Kratos has had a few appearances outside his game, the most interesting one would be the PlayStation versions of Shovel Knight.

Kratos is a secret boss in the game. He is unlocked after a player meets certain conditions, such as finding a special map. A rendition of Blades of Chaos is played during the battle.

5 Sweet Tooth In Rocket League

Sweet Tooth in Rocket League

While it isn't a character, Sweet Tooth is one of the prominent vehicles from the Twisted Metal series. It has appeared in each installment and is driven by the main protagonist, Needles Kane. Twisted Metal is a combat game where players drive around, destroying each other until they are the last one standing.

While not in the same category, Rocket League is also a car-based competitive game that does a lot of collaborations, so it was only natural for the Sweet Tooth to appear in the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Players can unlock the vehicle after playing one match with every common body.

4 Kat In Destiny Of Spirits

Kat in Destiny of Spirits in her spy outfit

Kat is the main protagonist of the Gravity Rush series. The original and sequel were well received and still have a loyal following among gamers. Despite this, the game was seen as a commercial failure by Sony. So it was a surprise for some to see Kat appear in another game by Sony called Destiny of Spirits.

Destiny of Spirits was a strategy RPG for the PlayStation Vita. It incorporated gacha mechanics (loot boxes) with a traditional RPG. Kat was one of the guest characters in the game that players could acquire. Two variants of Kat were available for summoning, her original outfit, and her special spy outfit. Destiny of Spirits has since gone offline in 2015, so this collaboration is no longer available for to experience.

3 Ratchet & Clank In Super Bomberman R

Ratchet in Super Bomber Man R

Ratchet and Clank are the main titular characters from one of Sony's longest-running franchises. The games usually take place in various galaxies where they save the day. The games combine platforming, puzzle-solving, and third-person shooting into one package. It is one of Sony's more profitable and popular franchises, with over ten installments released over the past 20 years.

Despite its popularity, they haven't appeared much outside of a few games. But their most prominent (and strangest) cameo is in the PlayStation 4 version of Super Bomberman R. They are in the speed class category, and one of their abilities is to pierce through bombs with their gun.

2 Toro In Street Fighter x Tekken

Toro in Street Fighter x Tekken

Toro Inoue is a cat who first appeared in the Japan-only release of Doko Demo Issyo for the PlayStation 1 in 1999. He is a Japanese bobtail cat who wishes to be a human. He was named after a debugger from Sony. Gamers outside of Japan won't probably be too familiar with him, but over there, he is the unofficial mascot of PlayStation.

His most famous cameo would be PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, but the most baffling one would be from another fighting game, Street Fighter x Tekken. For the gamers who use Ryu as their fighter of choice, using Toro won't feel out of place as his fighting style is centered around his fighting style.

1 Pipo Monkeys In Metal Gear Solid 3

Pippo in Metal Gear Solid 3

Pipo Monkeys are the face of Sony's dormant Ape Escape franchise. They are those monkeys that the player must capture in the games. The Pippo Monkeys have appeared in other video games, but their most notable cameo is in Metal Gear Solid 3.

In a mini-game called Snake vs. Monkey, Solid Snake is tasked to capture the Pipo Monkeys from causing more havoc in the jungle. Solid Snake can only use the EZ gun during the mini-game. The original mini-game had five stages but expanded to seven with the release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Snake vs. Monkey was later omitted from the HD and 3DS versions of the game.
